usually if there is a stent placed in, the patient would have to be on blood thinners, Plavix is a popular med that I have seen given to patients with stents. they give them because the stent itself can causes clot formation (and cause heart attacks and strokes), and they usually also give them with aspirin as well.

I just graduated from an ADN program in May, and I would also suggest getting BSN first time. The reason why I went for ADN was because it is very competitive now and the program that accepted me first was an ADN program after three years of applying to both ADN and BSN programs. Also do your best with the pre-reqs because some BSN programs require 3.5 gpa and above just to be considered. ADN's are mostly lottery (at least where I am from, NorCaL)

Being a male, I too feared O.B. I just thought of the many rejections that I would have because I am male, which I do understand. But my teacher was very helpful and even showed up early during clinical just to ask permission from patients. I just kept an open mind and went with the flow. Overall it was a very positive experience for me. I was able to see a C-section, regular birth, took take of mom and newborn (assessments), patient teaching, and even helped take out staples 5 days after a C-section. Just keep an open mind, do your best with the circumstances that presents itself, and try to absorbed as much as you can.
