  1. Try research if you are BSN or you could always do OR. It may take some time but if you want something go for it. I am very displeased with all these judgmental comments. As nurses we should not be judgmental. Everyone has own reasons for the decisions made. If we could support each other a little bit more this profession would be much brighter.
  2. I have worked at bedside for over 2 years (2 years as NA 10 months as an RN). Sad to say but I am getting tired of working in the hospital . The floors I worked for (med-surg/tele and intrmediate ICU) where always high turnover, short staffed with high acuity patients. When I was done with nursing school everyone told me I got to gain hospital/bedside experience before I even consider applying for outpatient or non bedside positions. At this point my stomach feels heavy every time I get up to go to work. I am thinking to start applying for non bedside positions but I am not sure if I would have a chance of getting a job. I guess I would like to get some advice regarding this. Also if you have any suggestions which areas I could apply I would appreciate it. Thanks

I just love how management handles these situations. Maybe instead of discussing the complaint with you they should take it to the higher level and fix the root of the problem- unsafe and short staffing. Its already been proved how unsafe staffing effects patient care. I feel us nurses need to do something about it. We need to get into politics and change the laws, otherwise we will always have this issue.
  4. Thanks for suggestions. I just bought Brooks Addiction wide style. They have free shipping on returns so I will give it a try. I could not find Allergria in my size in stores or online. I looked for the one with laces. Hope Brooks helps because my feet are so sore at this point .
  5. No I haven't ...Is there specific style you like ? Running, walking etc?
  6. I am having hard time finding shoes that fit and give support trough my 12 hr shift. I tried so many different styles. Dansko's work great for back support but my feet and ankles get sore if I wear them 2 days in a row. I also tried New Balance walking shoes but I don't think I get enough arch support. After I wearing them all day my heels hurt. I know I am not the only one with "shoe problem" but I would like to see what works for others before going shopping again. So I guess my question is which shoes are most comfortable to you? Thanks!
  7. I can totally empathize with you. I had same situation yesterday. The patient was screaming at me because wound care nurse came to clean wound on his toe. She told him that the wound is not looking good at all and "looked worried". When she left (without telling me what she saw) he called me to tell me that he wants to know that is going on with his leg and if I don't figure it out he will leave for another hospital. Not to mention that the family was there too and adding on anxiety with cursing. I had to stand there and take it for wound care nurse and the MD. Sucks to be nurse sometimes.
