I already had my titers and immunizations up to date so that was easy for me. Just needed the CBC and the physical done along with the fire safety card. I turned all the paperwork into the nursing office. I saw a few students from Rio at White's.

Hello everyone! I got a call from Rio today that I'm in! I went and picked up the paperwork but all it contained was what I need to do regarding background check, physical etc. Nothing about uniforms or needed books for the first class. I asked the person who was helping me and she said uniform info would be provided first day of class. I' m wondering for those who attended orientation, could you share with me any important info? Thanks so much!

I just called to reverify and the gentleman said again, the end of this month. I wish we could get a straight answer. Sigh...

Thank you! Yes, I'm going to accept. I would like to get into PCC because the college is much closer, but Im happy with LACC! Congrats to you too!! Now I have so many questions. What color are the uniforms? Are the classes mon thru fri or mon thru thurs? Guess we will have to wait until August...

I'm an alternate at LAHC but the letter says as an alternate I must attend a mandatory orientation and will purchase my uniform on that day. I'm confused. Why purchase uniforms if I'm only confirmed as an alternate (no alternate number provided)? Has anyone run across this before?

Hello everyone! i just received an email from LAHC that I have been chosen as an alternate to their nursing program for fall 2014. I'm confused because the letter says as an alternate that I must attend a mandatory orientation to take place in June and at that time I will be ordering my uniform. Why order uniforms if I'm an alternate with no confirmation that I'm actually in? Has anyone else been an alternate for LAHC and are you familiar with the procedure? Thanks!

Well, Rio is right next door to me so that would be nice. PCC or Cerritos would be great too.

I applied to seven. Five lottery and two merit - County and Rio Hondo. The wait is going to make me crazy.

Turns out the app and essay go to a review committee. If your app is chosen it then goes into the lottery. So it's a four step process. Meet the cut score Get invite/submit app and essay App and essay reviewed and chosen Lottery

I guess my question is, if we have been qualified to fill out an application our name automaticly goes into the lottery. So how then does the essay effect anything?

If LACC is a lottery, what is the purpose of the essay?
