I was lucky enough to graduate from Fortis and pass boards and that was over a year ago. The students behind me aren't so lucky.

Are you in Indiana? I went to Fortis and we all thought this was going to happen and everyone fled to Harrison. Now they will have to go back to Fortis. I was told Harrison got bought out but I assume that school would not be accredited.

What happened with Harrison College? They just closed there doors out of no where.

Really Eskenazi pays more then IU? Wow didn't know that. When I went to the Eskenazi info session I was told they have really nice ratios. 1:4 med surg and 1:3 for step down. 1:1 or 1:2 for ICU.

I have seen paycheck stubbs so it's definitely not rumors some LPN's are making 25 to 26.

Been looking for new grad LPN and RN pay rates but there aren't any recent ones. Im hearing a lot of chatter of how LPN's in long term care are getting paid more then RN's in hospitals which does't surprise me. So if you guys have any knowledge can you please share? I know St. V new grad pay is 24/hr with 12% shift diff for nights and weekends.

I'm definitely looking into entrepreneurship! Or other avenues but I'm the type of person who had to have a plan A to Z. Or I will feel unorganized in my proffession.

Great advice! Thats why I was considering the leadership degree so that way I will know if I wanted to Persue NP. I am currently in pediatrics and want to stay in that field but I know I don't want to be on the floor for 20 years. Thanks so much!

Hello! I'm currently an ASN student and after graduation I want to go to WGU for their ASN to MSN Leadership degree. I know for a fact I want a master's but going for a NP is a little intimidating at moment. I figure it will take 3 to 3.5 years to finish the masters then I will decide to do NP or not. My question is...Is this a waste of time? I live in Indiana and all the NP programs want you to have clinical experience which is fine but I don't want to take a break from school and I feel that bachelor's is a waste if they are offering a RN to MSN track. Thoughts?

Fortis is ACEN accredited in Indianapolis. The BON gave them 18 months to improve nclex pass rates and get adequate staffing. They will be back fall of 2017 to see if progress was made.

Most LPN's I know went to Brown Mackie or Med Tech.....

The same undertone is at our school. How our we supposed to get experience of no one wants student. I found out many places are having this problem.

Not for sure if you guys heard about all the school closing like Med Tech, Brown Mackie and ITT. 2 of those are the main schools where students get an LPN and ITT wasn't accredited but you could still sit for your RN boards. From what I here those where the some of the main schools nursing homes hired from. So now with those closing there are only 2 LPN programs in the city. I feel like they are finally trying to phase out the LPN role. I feel like we will have a huge shortage in long term care more then ever now. Thoughts?

Hello! I am wondering if clinical sites are hard to get these days. I attend an accredited ASN program in Indiana and the school has had some trouble finding some sites. Especially for Med Surg 2 and OB. An unaccredited LPN program has better sites then we do. We have a couple long term care sites which is fine but I feel like we need more acute care clinicals. Any opinions about this? Thanks.

In not an LPN but I'm in school with a bunch. Someone told me they made $23. Not for sure her experience or if that included shift differentials. And it's in Indianapolis.

If the job posting doesn't say 1-2 years experience (or anything similar to that) it's up for grabs in my book. It should tell you if they want experience or not.

Think as long as it's accredited you meet the criteria. You just have to have your BSN in so many years...it varies.

I have never seen A residency program for new grads in Indy. At my hospital there are postings that say "Will consider new grads" new nurses are trained with a preceptor for 3 months on general med floors... 4 -6 months for critical care.
