I am just trying to determine why sharing a blog constitutes advertising? Yes, I went on a rant only because I looked at AN as a portal for sharing information. I had no idea when I signed up how restrictive AN was.

I already do that and that's not the point. The point is I am not advertising anything. I have seen others post links to other blogs and websites. I don't understand why there is a suppression of shared information here. I can't find anyway of contacting any admins about changing this policy.

I just received a warning because I posted a couple of links to my blog so that other Wake Tech students or prospective students could find it. Apparently I was advertising and thats not allowed? I do not sell anything on my blog nor do I make any money from blogging. I am simply trying to reach other nursing students to share information. So, are we not allowed to share ANY blogs or websites here or just ones that we are affiliated with? I have seen others link to products that are for sale on other pages i.e., Amazon.com & allheart.com

Here, in North Carolina, community colleges are partnering with 4-year universities to offer ADN students a way to seamlessly obtain their BSN while working towards their ADN. This program is RIBN (pronounced like ribbon). I am currently in my last semester of pre req's and just found out about this program. While it's not the best fit for me, it does seem like a really good program if you are just starting to work towards your degree. Here is how it works… So basically, you are dual enrolled in your local community college and the University that is paired with your school. You will work on the general education for the University while working on your pre req's and NUR classes for the community college. All of the University course work will be completed online and you only have to take one University course per semester to stay in the RIBN program. Once you are accepted, all of your pre req community college courses will be held for you so you are guaranteed to get into the classes that you need. The best part of the RIBN program is that once you are accepted, you no longer have to worry about the competitive entry points. Once you're in, you're are in! As of right now TEN students are selected each Fall and Spring for entry into the program. This sounds super competitive, but hardly anyone even knows about it. So, it is still fairly easy to get in. Durham Tech only had 4 students apply last Spring. Wake Tech only had 8. I was one of two students at the information session at Wake Tech this week. It is relatively easy to apply too: First… Apply to your community college Apply to the University paired with your community college *Select UNDECIDED as your major* Send all High School and College transcripts to both schools if you haven't taken a high school or college Chemistry course, take one now! If you are under 24 and have taken the SAT/ACT, send all of you test scores to the University. If you have never taken the SAT/ACT, no worries it's just not factored into your point calculation. So, if you want the extra points go ahead and take it! Attend an information session at your community college Take the TEAS V Apply to the RIBN program Point Calculation Points are still involved in getting accepted, but its not as rough as the ADN program… Un-Weighted High School/Un-Weighted College GPA = MAX 50 points SAT or ACT scores = MAX 20 points TEAS Test = MAX 15 points Chemistry Grade = 15 points Overall, I think this is a really great option if you don't already have a lot of your general education classes completed or if you are worried about not getting into your ADN program. Now is the time to take advantage of the fact that not a lot of people know about it. I really wish that I would have known about it a few semesters ago!

I am about to enter into a nursing program in NC and have 2 half sleeves and I am dreading having to keep them covered. I got mine to cover up scars from keratosis pilaris. I wanted to cover something ugly with something beautiful, plus I am Native American so tattoos are a part of my heritage. I am so glad I purposefully never got any below my forearm so that long sleeves can cover them up. The only ones I am really worried about are the one on top of my foot and I have my wedding band tattooed on. How the heck am I gonna cover my ring finger? I actually got the ring idea from my Dr. She did hers so she wouldn't have to take it off or worry about losing it while she was at work.

Thank you both for responding! Nursing is what I would MUCH rather be doing. My passion is anything to do with the body. That's why hygiene was my 2nd option. My school used to only start nursing in the fall and I was wrongfully told that I had to take cna through them and work as a cna for 6 months. So that would have put me in school 1.5-2 years longer than hygiene. So, that is why I switched. Now, I know that's not true and they start nursing in the fall, spring and summer. I really think I am going to go ahead and switch back :)

I have a question for anyone who has been accepted into the Wake Tech RN program....After next semester I will have 211 points, including TEAS points, how likely is it that I will get in? Also, I got a B in ENG112 can I take it over to try for an A or will they only accept the 1st grade? I have been told things have changed since my info session. Thanks!

Okay, so I started out in pre nursing and it is really what I wanted to do. But, I was given some info regarding the cna requirements that caused me to change to Dental Hygiene. I found out last night that the info I was given was false. Now I don't know what to do. If I go back to nursing as my major I would only finish one semester later than with Hygiene. Any advice????
