How Long does it usually take to get hired for a new Job in a Nursing Home
I applied at a place got a interview with in a week, hiring process took 3 weeks for ALF, I also had a interview today at LTC and got the job offer on the spot start there next week. Gonna be working two jobs. I guess It just depends on where your applying, and how soon they are needing help.
-
Job offer?
Yes I understand that. I've worked in LTC and ALF as a CNA, I know LTC can be extremely overwhelming, But I was thinking more of pay wise? When I was a aide ALF paid me more, Just curious if it was the same for LPN, job offer at ALF for LPN position hasn't told me the pay yet, I guess I find that out tomorrow. Just want an Idea of what I'm getting myself into. Thank you so much for replying! =D

Licensing
I'm in KS and they told me it would take 7-10 days on Sept 6th. still haven't gotten mine.
-
Job offer?
I would have to agree. When I got the call about the job offer meeting, I had already knew that I had the interview at the LTC facility and knew that the hours are the exact hours I wanted however I did not want to give the wrong impression that could affect my placement in the job offer. Like you said (TheCommunter) I might not never get the job offer at the LTC. So really it made me think and realized its just an interview there, if i got hired on spot would be amazing however I highly doubt it, I don't have that much faith in myself hahaha. But if anything I will accept the job at ALF and we'll see what happens from there. Taking it one step at a time. Thank you so much.

Job offer?
Thank you so much for your advice!!! =D I think your right though, I gotta be realistic. I need a job like ASAP. I just hope I can get out of the job offering to be on time for the interview at the LTC!!! =P

How does an LPN get the 1yr experience if no one will hire them?
I graduated in May and just got official license Sept 4th, I been applying everywhere since then, didn't hear anything for two weeks from anyone. And now my phone is blowing up with phone calls. Be patient, try to do something meanwhile like cleaning or something you been putting off for a while. Best Luck to you!

Job offer?
I had an interview at a ALF last week, today I got a phone call saying she would like to meet with me for a job offer tomorrow at 10. What do you wear to a "Job offer" would you dress like how you did for the interview? Also how long is that process? I'm in a bit of a dilemma, I also have a job interview at a LTC facility at 1pm where they have amazing hours. I would LOVE to work for both jobs but I know that's not possible because they both want a full time candidate. Plus I don't even know the pay to either one! What would you do?!?!?! This really sucks, I would hate to accept the job at the ALF then get offered a job a the LTC. someone please let me know your thoughts or any advice? Do you know pay difference in ALF vs LTC?

Consumer Notification Form?
So I had an interview Wednesday the 9/11. Today I got a email to fill out Consumer notification said "Attached is one more form that I need to have you complete in order to process your application. " I filled it out and went to turn it in. My question is why do they need that? And what exactly are they looking for? I really need a job. I haven't worked since July. My credit score probably is BAD! Anyone ever have to this?

Taking NCLEX PN for a second time. Been out of school for 2 years.
Texas_goodnurse For the pharm math problems the question will ask you what they are looking for like ML or MG. Then would state round to nearest whole number _____ ML. So just the number was all I had to enter. Those are how mine were but as you know everyones exams are different. I think I only had one math question on my second NCLEX, maybe 2 on my first. I know was REALLY nervous the first time. The second time ofcourse I was nervous but it wasn't as bad, I thought of it as "I know what the exam Is like, I am prepared, I can pass this, Look for the KEY words (initial, first, NOT)" My friend told me that the main key of the exam is "Not to kill the patient" hahaha I know that sounds horrible but its so true. Read the questions carefully, try not to spend tooooooo much time then you'll just think too much into it (horrible idea), Learn your differences in s/s (hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia) helped me alot! Good Luck to the Both of you. Go in Feeling confident!!! (I KNOW its hard trust me but your also not expected to be Eisenstein) Think of it as another Final. Prayers are with you both..

Taking NCLEX PN for a second time. Been out of school for 2 years.
Hey. I took PN first time and failed, but passed my second one! haha. And hope you do too! But I read the whole Saunders book the first time, second time I kinda just reviewed some of the things I weren't too sure of. I did Exam Cram 3rd edition both times, and bought Allison NCLEX PN NOTEs. Thought it was pretty good also comes with CD. My advice is DO TONS OF QUESTIONS understand the rationale. That was my mistake the first time. I read more rather than do questions. But everyone is different. Learn your Labs, practice SATA, I learned Suffix of drugs (-pril, -ciliin, -olol) really helped me out, precautions are always huge. the first link I put it says "RN" but it still is very very helpful for PN too. Best of Luck to you. Go in feeling confident!!! and Don't get stuck on a question and think "WHat if" because there is no What ifs on NCLEX. answer is right there in front of you. Here are some links I used. http://24nurse.tumblr.com/post/35423030606/mnemonics-nclex-study-guide http://nclex.dover.edu/nclexpn3000/mainMenu.do;jsessionid=CF4CE9D7D99B10E8C89F8089E76FF6DA http://nursingmnemonics.blogspot.com/search/label/ACE%20Inhibitors http://www.practicequiz.com/result.php http://flashcards.ncsbn.org/

First timer with the NCLEX-PN
I took mine today. However this was my 2nd attempt with NCLEX PN. The first time I maxed out at 205 and failed with "Near passing standards" in July. This time I got around 150? Did PVT trick right when I got home. Got the "Good Pop up" and BON posted minutes later. I think everyone has their own way of studying. I've read alot of people don't study the day before and just relax. However I didn't. I studied my butt off last night, and couldn't sleep, was a nervous wreck!!!!!!! How I studied: Learning the differences (ex. hypovolemia, hypervalemia), Learing suffix of Drugs, Precautions, Delegations, LAB values, Diets (Ex: celiac disease= NO Gluten) I used Exam Cram 3rd edition, Saunders 5th edition, PN Nclex notes by alllison. Here are some sites I also took my time to go through NCSBN Flashcardshttp://www.hisname.org/resources/Hints-for-Remembering-Medication-Classifications.pdf 24nurse - MNEMONICS & NCLEX STUDY GUIDE They are really helpful! But my personal advice, do a TON of practice questions. My first NCLEX I did more reading rather than questions. And go in feeling confident. Don't look into the question too much, because in the NCLEX world there is no "What if's" so immediately eliminate that out of your head if you get stuck on the question. The answer is right in front of you, you just have to put it together. and another thing.. Get off this site and get to stuyding!!! =P Also practice questions with SATA BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!!!

nxclex lpn i must have failed badly? =(
Hey.. I know exactly how you feel. I also took my PN nclex in July and failed. Maxed out at 205 as well. Felt like I had a million SATA. I did PVT trick every hour and went to CC page. Two days later I found out that I had failed. But just try to have some faith, it could take awhile too. My friend also maxed out at 205 he did PVT and it went to CC page but 6 hours later his status on BON was Pass. So you never know. Just try to get some sleep. Take a sleeping pill if that will help you.. (that's what I did) try to relax, don't think about failing until you get your official results. Keep us updated..

Nclex in exactly a week..
So.. this is my second time taking the NCLEX PN.. first time I took it was in July. stopped at 205, CPR letter I got "Near Passing Standards" in ALL categories... I been using Saunders 5th edition and Exam Cram third edition and PN NCLEX notes by allison something.. been doing a lot of practice questions. But in scoring is in the 70s in Saunders, and Exam cram 60s-75. Are my scores too low? should I reschedule? I noticed the first time when I was studying I was reading more rather than doing questions. So now I've been doing both.. but the last thing I was is to fail again.. I was broken and depressed after the first one and never want to feel like that again.. Any advices on how I should study for this last week? What did you do when you studied? What helped you? Thank you for taking your time reading my post! Would be GREATLY appreciated if you shared your experience and how you achieved this evil exam...

Not sure how to feel ready!? Nclex PN
Supportu Don't give up. I also didn't pass my nclex the first time.. I've been in the same shoes, your not alone. NCLEX is a tough exam. Get all the disappointment out of the way now and give yourself a week to think of where you went wrong and write it down when you think of something and get back to them books and start studying again until you reschedule your next exam. I know its easier said than done, but trust me. Slacking off and being depressed about it will not make you a nurse. It's the evil nclex that does. Think of it this way. Now you know what the test is like and you know what your walking into when you go take your test, its not your first time, and have some confidence. Good luck to you!

Not sure how to feel ready!? Nclex PN
Everyone's exam is different. I am still having problems remembering all the drugs, but I would at least try to remember the adverse effects. Here is a site I used to help me memorize. I wouldn't base all your studying on drugs on this, however it is help on certain questions. http://www.hisname.org/resources/Hints-for-Remembering-Medication-Classifications.pdf I also used Saunders fifth addition, I thought those questions were actually harder than what I got on the NCLEX,but then again everyones exam is different for precautions Airborne Precautions Infections requiring airborne precautions are those caused by pathogens that remain suspended in the air for prolonged periods of time. Clients with tuberculosis, measles (rubeola), and varicella should be cared for using airborne precautions. The client should be placed in a private, negative pressure room. Healthcare workers should wear a HEPA mask (also referred to as an N-95 or respirator mask) when caring for these clients. Droplet Precautions Infections requiring droplet precautions are those caused by pathogens that are suspended in droplets that travel 3 feet, but are not suspended in the air for long periods of time. Clients with influenza, mumps, pertussis, rubella (German measles), diphtheria, pneumonia, scarlet fever, streptococcal pharyngitis, and meningitis should be cared for using droplet precautions. The client should be placed in a private room or in a room with a client who has the same illness. Client beds should be no closer than 3 feet apart. The door to the room may remain open. Healthcare workers should wear a mask when in direct contact with the client. Contact Precautions Infections requiring contact precautions are those caused by pathogens spread by direct contact. Clients with RSV, scabies, colonization with MRSA, and VRE should be cared for using contact precautions. The client should be placed in a private room or with a client with the same illness. Healthcare workers should wear gloves when entering the room and wear gowns to prevent contact with the client. Hands should be washed with an antimicrobial soap before leaving the client’s room. Equipment used by the client should remain in the room and should be disinfected before being used by anyone else. The client should be transported only for essential procedures; during transport, precautions should be taken to prevent disease transmission.

NCLEX PN - extremely anxious & stressed waiting for my results
Did you try PVT trick?

Not sure how to feel ready!? Nclex PN
First off.. Relax.. Yes it is a HUGE exam that could change so much in your future if fail or pass.. It's normal to feel this way.. Do a bunch of practice questions with rationales. Don't cram your studies just because its 2 days away. Review what you been studying. You have 24 hours to reschedule, if you still feel like good about it. Don't rush, read questions two times and the answer will match exactly what the question is asking. Get rid of "What Ifs" in the NCLEX world everything is perfect there is no what ifs. Breathe, you made it this far, one more exam can get you started in your nursing career. Do your best. Eliminate failing out of your mind, keep telling yourself you can do this, and go into the exam feeling confident. Know your drugs, labs, priorities, precautions. I had a ton of SATA (select all that apply). Good Luck. Keep us updated!!

NCLEX THIS FRIDAY!!! Freaking out.
My personal advice. Go with your gut feeling. If you feel confident enough go for it. I rushed and scheduled mine. Studied the whole month in June and took my exam in July. The week before my exam I felt like I was surely not gonna pass because I didn't feel ready, the night before nclex I knew I wasn't ready, but also could not cancel because they need 24hours notice before you can and it was already too late for me. I went in felt horrible about taking the exam and failed... But honestly EVERYONE is different. So go with what you feel is right for you. Don't base it on what you hear and what you read online. It's just gonna cause more anxiety for you, but also don't wait too long. This is your chance to become a Nurse. Study hard, read the questions twice, get rid of "What if" in your head when you read the question. Carefully put the question and the answer together and it will make sense. I retake mine in Sept. I wish you the best of Luck. Be confident!!! YOU CAN DO THIS
