  1. I'm a visual and auditory learning. I would watch videos. As I read the ch I would also be listening to the recorder. I woluld then reread my notes as the recorder played the,. I'm wondering how you can process the material if you are reading while listening to the lectures. When it comes to studying for a science class, it's not like reading the chapter one time as if you are reading for sociology or psychology, Physiology demands that you digest the material so that you can apply it. you may have to read the chapters one paragraph at a time until you process the material and take your own notes. also you should focus on what is in your control, if you can't record her lectures, pay close attention in class when she is lecturing, it is not the time to get lost reading the book, focus on what she is saying and try to jot down important points. before exam, get a good night sleep and try to do some yoga, or meditate, or listening to some classical music, or pray, whatever will relax you so you don't stress yourself out. This class may be your hardest class and some professors are just tougher that others, if you try your best in the second exam and its a C or less , then I suggest you drop the class and get it with another professor if you can.
  2. your original post left me a bit perplex. at times, you seem a bit arrogant yet insecure. in all honesty, it seems that you're looking for validation that it was Ok to be condescending to your difficult patient because he was an ex-addict/illiterate or lacking in intelligence. your patient might have been a jerk but it's not because he's not that smart. as a professional, you don't have to like your patient but it's not ok to condescending because it shows a lack of professionalism. Perhaps, you're upset that he got under your skin since you seem to prize yourself as being able to handle difficult patients, but it seems this guy broke you. perhaps you may not be as patient and tolerant as you thought, but so what? Some dude at work got on your last nerve and and you checked him. you may have a little ice in you vein, that's alright, just own it, to thine own self be true.
  3. Have you consider being Physician Assistant, I think that's more in line with your desire to be a medical doctor. When I was in High school, I know I had never heard of Physician Assistants, I just knew of doctor and nurses, cna and medical assistant. do a little research on this field as you will learn that it is shorter than medical school, the pay is very good and you will also satisfy many if not all the pre-med requirements in case you still want to go to med school later on. The field of nursing is different from medicine, Physician assistant is closely related and will take about the same time as a BSN.. you can either have a bachelor's or master's. I would suggest you go to you local area hospital and ask to speak or shadow a physician assistant and they can give you more info on this field.
  4. Honey, if you feel that strongly about it, then Quit! This your life for you to live and enjoy. Please don't even entertain the thought of ending your life. Killing yourself is not an option, Quitting nursing school is! go see your academic counselor at school and see what other majors /careers that interest you that the credits you already have can be applied to. Bottom line is there are a million and one careers out there, find the one that suit you, not the one that your parents think is best. your parents are thinking they are suggesting what is best for you but only you know yourself and only you can determine what is best for you. Freedom isn't given, it's taken. This your life to live, so live it to the fullest! whatever you do, get help, don't go through this alone...talk to someone you trust to help you with this decision and best of luck !!!
  5. I think OP needs to be more concern with getting that 4.0 in his/her nursing pre-requisite courses than worrying about others' motive for pursuing nursing. A seat in any nursing program is earned not given. it's not earned by passion, it's earned by hard core academic skills as it should be. Nursing is a hot field right now and it is attracting a whole lot of smart folks, so if you want to be a nurse then you can study and volunteer and make yourself competitive. At the end of the day, if you are that passionate, your grades, past experience and volunteer work should reflect that.
  6. I don't understand why some people feel the need to questions other people's motive for choosing a career in nursing. it seems that some folks want to get into nursing but they don't want the competition. they don't want to compete for a spot in a program and they don't want to have to compete for job. it seems like because they feel that only they have true passion for nursing, everyone else need to get out of the way to make room for them. Nursing is and should should be a competitive field, the only relevant point is whether or not the person has the capacity to be a competent nurse. Just because you think you have true passion for something doesn't necessarily mean that you will be any good at it.
  7. What's with the sarcasm? yes, she can prescribe as a nurse practitioner base on her state laws but not just if she's just a RN adn or bsn. I think people come to this public forum seeking more information from people in the field. The nursing field can be confusing for outsiders looking in because a good portion of nurses tend not to clarify if they are lpn, rn asn, rn bsn, rn msn. Folks tend to just say I'm a nurse.
