Major in Fashion Design and then go to Med School?
You guys are really sensitive i see lol. I dont think i want to ever marry or date a male nurse. Because they might just get offended over anything! wow

Major in Fashion Design and then go to Med School?
Oh I'm sorry for defending myself. I guess all cnas, rns, lpns, lvns or doctors have to be pushovers and not have strong opinions or not stand up for what they believe in!

Major in Fashion Design and then go to Med School?
Where did i call myself a RN though? I referred myself as a nurse because i work as a cna not a RN!

Major in Fashion Design and then go to Med School?
Thanks for the advice and for keeping it to a respectful level. As far as me having an "attitude" I'm just not going to let someone belittle me, that's all. And aren't all humans entitled to their own opinions. You just gave me yours and i 100% respect it. There are ways of saying things without coming across as a rude sarcastic person, maybe i misunderstood, but she wasn't the nicest either.

Major in Fashion Design and then go to Med School?
#1 Thanks for the info. #2 If they delete this thread i could care less. I didnt post this to get any attention, i posted this to get advice from "kind" nurses. #3 I'm a CNA can you show me where i said i was an RN? I said i am a nurse meaning a cna not a RN. #4 I wasn't attacking anyone, if she decides to attack me on my post, on my terms that is not ok. I suggest for anyone else who is going to post, if you are not going to give me any useful advice about the topic, please do us both a favor and do not leave a comment.

Why specifically do you think it would suit me more? Just curious.

Major in Fashion Design and then go to Med School?
Yes sweety and i've done more work than you'll ever do in your entire career, if you really have one that is. Why are you still on my post anyways? Is this as much thrill as you get in your pathetic life?

Major in Fashion Design and then go to Med School?
Thanks for going through my previous post, and sorry i dont update people on every detail of my personal life, for your information she decided to have me start earlier because of there need for staff members. But how would you know that? Of course your NOT a cna, nor do you even know me or my life!

Major in Fashion Design and then go to Med School?
Sweety i can do whatever i want you're on my post, get that clear. Also you apparently can't read, because i said FASHION design NOT interior design, clear that one too. As for a CNA i work at LTC facility and do more work than you've probably done in your whole life so don't come at me with that nonsense! As for your advice, thanks but go ahead and give it to someone who has intentions in majoring in INTERIOR design.

Major in Fashion Design and then go to Med School?
Well for a person who's not a nurse i sure do work hard like one. Thanks for the advice. Also i dont think I'm afraid of any sensitive nurses trying to get on my case, or "hurt" me. I'm entitled to my opinion. If i dont major in fashion design i will go for my BSN because everyone knows that CNA's work a billion times harder than RNs because they have to do all the dirty, hard, back-breaking work. I personally don't enjoy the dirty part of being a cna, but i do it because i love helping those in need, and i won't be a cna forever trust me!

That's what i meant. That people have this stereotypical idea that doctor's only love should be medicine and nothing else. Like if they're not humans who are entitled to have other interests that don't necessarily involve reading or something medically related.

I DONT need your sarcasm/attitude. I was asking for an opinion, not for your judgement. I am a nurse myself and i love doing it. I am not considering becoming a doctor because a degree in nursing isn't good enough for me. I am considering it because it's one of my many passions as a diverse and intellect person. If you had a problem with MY post you didn't need to leave a comment!

Major in Fashion Design and then go to Med School?
Ok this might sound crazy to you, but bare with me. So im 18 and plan to go to college next year. Im currently work as a cna and before becoming a cna I always interested in becoming a fashion designer. I got certified in high school and spent 3 years in a nursing assistant program and just talking and learning about the med field and healthcare, i started to wonder if i really want to major in fashion design, even though it's what i wanted to be ever since i was 12. Now at my age im thinking fashion design might not give me that promising future i could have if i go to medical school and become an ob/gyn. I am serious about the medical field and i want to become a doctor. I heard that it doesn't matter what you major in college as long as you get a high GPA and meet the pre-med prerequisites requirements. Do you think it's a good idea for me to major in fashion design and then do everything i have to do and then apply to med school? I was also thinking of going to college for nursing (BSN) since it's very relate-able to me, and then going to med school but i love fashion and i want it to be a part of my life. Doctors don't have to be uninteresting bookworms. Please give me some advice. Don't just read and go back. I need opinions so i could make up my mind, so please help I'll really appreciate it and take every opinion into consideration.

Can't get an interview
Try asking for a paper application, that way your face is recognized, follow up on your application by calling and asking for the HR and you can also try following up in person, kinda stalk em. Not too much lol. Just keep up with your application because those people tend to be very busy and sometimes forget to call.

20 Patients for 1 CNA??
Unfortunately in my subconscious i was aware that that is probably too many pts for one cna but i cant quit a job i just got hired for. I guess i'll just suck it up and do my job to the best of my abilities.
-
20 Patients for 1 CNA??
LTC facility and 3-11pm.
-
20 Patients for 1 CNA??
I would like to know if its like this at your facility. Is this a normal cna to pt. ratio?
-
I'm venting!
I feel sorry that you had such a workload and had to deal with racial slurs. The LTC facility i interviewed for yesterday told me that if i get the offer, which she would let me know by tomorrow, that I'd be in charge of 20 pts/residents. Now I do think that is way too many pts for one CNA and an 8hr & 30 min shift. For $14.90/hr. i find it to be ok especially because i need the job. But i dont think i would pay too much mind to rude residents unless it's a daily problem. Just focus on getting your job done, because at the end of the day that's what they hired you for.

How many scrubs do you own?
I think theyre so comfy, i dont have too many because i havent started working yet, so i was just curious as to how many do nurses typically own.
-
Anyone else frustrated by the pain scale??
Sometimes the pts who shout and scream and "roll on the ground" are those likely to not be a 10/10. You dont have to overreact for your pain to be classified as a 10/10 everyone reacts to pain differently. And yes the pt can be badly in pain and scream and shout and roll on the ground. You have to trust that what they are telling you is honest. It's your job as a nurse. Not to judge them.

Cna job at nursing home
keke1982: I couldnt reply to your private message because i am new to the site, but here it is. -In regards to charting, it depends the way the facility charts, on paper or computer. Most facilities do it through the computer. They say if it wasn't charted it's like it never happened. Once you recieve training they will let you know how they want things done. I suggest you to listen and take in everything they say. try and be independent these nurses arent there to babysit you. As far as what the nurse expects from you idk thats up to her every facility is different. Make sure to take notes. Dont think that working as a cna will go as smooth as when you did clinical. In nursing homes you have to take shortcuts and know that you will not get everything done by the end of the day. Also know that you will not always have all the supplies you need to get the job done. Your not there to make friends, trust me! Your there to learn fast, get the job done, and leave. Use common sense and build a routine learn which pts need you first, which ones are harder to do or easier. Since your new, take work home, meaning better yourself because you are on "probation". Dont ask to many questions. If you must then ask different nurses dont ask 1 nurse 100 questions, because she's really gonna go for your throat. And lastly dont be intimidated, if you look like a harmless little innocent nurse, they're going to take advantage of that. Be a good nurse but toughen up! its the only way you'll survive in this jungle called healthcare field. Good luck!
