Asking for prayers: multiple nursing students died in car accident
So sorry to hear that. Praying for God to give comfort to their loved ones.

The problem is. It has already been judged :-)

Pt having a "friend" over for "special nursing care"
Are you sure you are going to kick the patient out of the hospital because of sex? I know for a fact that certain rooms are specifically designed for patient needs. And are roomed according to prioritization right? So, a nurse wouldn't put a critically ill patient in an enclosed room privately. Then invade his privacy. My personal life is private. As in private.

That is fine. What are you going to do when you come in and they are in the middle of doing what they are doing?

Yes! Yes!

As well as nurses does ALWAYS follow patients rights, Right? Like knocking on a private room before you enter?

That is exactly why you are a nurse. Being a patient advocate means speaking for a patient. Now this thread needs to speak for the patient instead of them in place of the patient. Expressing your thought is different. If need is not the basis of everything then what?

Happy wife, happy life :-) I agree!

Fortunately, what you think a patient "needs" is not the measure for determining hospital policy. Your job is to serve the needs of your employer. As long as your employer allows it, then your personal thought are irrelevant. Just do your job, and be glad you have one.

Amazed at how many people claim offense to a couple having sex in a "private" room. Let's not forget how many patient's have their dignity trampled on by having to get naked in front of strangers, pee and poop in bed pans, having catheters inserted, and their cavities inspected. I applaud the hospital for telling this thread's original poster that they could not tell the patient to stop-GOOD! Maybe nurses should start knocking before entering a private room.

What really is the definition of the "JOB"? Preventing the patient from doing what they think they need? Yes it is a choice, but were they presented with an option not to?

Once again So if he was not suppose to do an activity that makes his heart pound. Why wasn't he educated not to do so? Since you are trying to educate me. Wouldn't you tell the patient prior to signing an admission that he is not allowed to do such?

Well does that mean that you just walk in into someones room, and not knock before you enter? Would the patients heart rate rise even if he/she just go up to go use the bathroom? Yes, the purpose of being in the telemetry. But does that mean there is no privacy? If the patient is really on that critical situation would'nt he/she be on a complete bed rest ordered by a physician? Not allowed to do anything? Why didn't the nurse educate him/her as to what she/he is suppose to do and not to do, prior to admission? Why didn't they stop them if it wasn't right?

The patient did not ask you to go watch them. They should have there privacy (because it is private room) in there own room. Nurses dont have the right to just go in without knocking. If you believe that you cannot have privacy outside your home then it is your belief but there people who have different beliefs because you are not the only person in the world and they are not here to PLEASE you. And you are here to judge them because of there belief of what privacy in a private room is. Is this really being therapeutic to the client? Is being a Nurse being able to judge what your patient's beliefs?

Completely agree!

Do it. If you think that a PRIVATE ROOM is thesame as a STAIRWELL.

I did not say that you become pervert once you need it. What I am saying is if you are really this moral about sex then be moral about how you respond to the situation. There is nothing that says something has been done except judging the person who did it. The patient has his/her rights too. It is a PRIVATE room.

Don't be judgemental. I know that it is not as you see it to be right, but firstly, sex is a physiologic need according to maslow's heirarchy http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow's_hierarchy_of_needs. In some hospital's when a patient is in a private room they can do pretty much whatever they want. As long as it does not put the life of a patient in danger or risk. One's point of view is different from others. Sometimes what they think is okay may not be okay with you or others. I dont mean to put sides to anyone but there are many factors that affect people as to how they percieve what is wrong or right and it is other people's job to either tell them what is wrong and what is not or not judge them for what they do but help them to do what is right, if you cannot do either then you are just another person who tries to judge other people and not helping.

Filipino Nurse - NCLEX application in California
Hi kabayan, Yes, we share much. The filing system is still primitive so it will be hard. But still some of the BVNPT requirement would be sent from the school and you still need to pay for another fee for BVNPT. I am gonna take my chances and take BVNPT exam on Oct. And take the classes since a school already offered them. I hope I pass one or/and the other. My documents was sent through the express mail in a local post office because they are the only one who does not require receiving signature but they have tracking so you track it. You can also call because they can I guess see it in there system.

Filipino Nurse - NCLEX application in California
Hi kabayan, I dont know if I will be a help or not but. I graduated at a college in baguio too and when I applied I did it directly with BRN they had me do thesame thing. Gladly I still have some of my C.Is there and contacted one of them, who gladly responded. He told me that it is not easy to look for documents especially when it is almost burried in boxes he suggested for me to send someone to actually help look for them in pile of boxes. It took a day and a half. When it was found it was sent. Well when my evaluation was done I was deficient in MS and OB but included in my letter was a suggestion that I should take LVN and my evaluator would send my transcripts from BRN to BVNPT but all the other stuff needs to be sent from school again, but atleast you already have the file prepared in your school so they can send it easier.
