Why so many 3-11 jobs at nursing homes?
Typically from what I see 3-11 nurses have to not only have a normal patient load they are also responsible for doing admissions. That creates a heavy burden for the nurses and often leads to high turnover.

Help! I have to precept a new grad who already knows it all....but not really.
I would never sit with a person and try to set them straight. If you are supposed to train someone do just that, if they choose not to listen and or are breaking established protocols correct them. if they dont listen give feedback to management regarding their suitability to be employed on the unit, let them come up with a remediation plan.

if you suck at nursing interviews, clap your hands!
I have received job offers from every nursing interview I have performed. Interviews are about drawing a picture that the interviewers want to see, it is not necessarily about being the most qualified or technically capable person. If you can read people well, you can tailor your responses to what the most will be viewed most favorably.

Float Nursing
The hospital where I work generally accepts 1 year of experience for floating. I think as a new grad it is doable, they give you 8-10 shifts of training so if you are receptive to direction you should be fine.

I failed my preemployment drug test :/ what now...?
Faking tests are commonplace, and there is a cottage industry on faking tests the methods are very simplistic. My friend is a parole officer and he has people that have ways to fake their test even when monitored. Faking tests from an employer is easy to do for anyone wanting to do it, drug testing is a waste of time.
