  1. Hey, guys I was thinking about applying to Sentara's program. I am from Northern Virginia, so I was thinking about GMU but it's very competive, not that I don't think Sentara's program isn't, but I feel like I might have a better shot at getting into a BSN program if I apply at more than one. I am going to call the school, I still have at least a years worth of classes I still need to take(prereqs for different programs), so I am far from ready to apply to any program. I noticed that it says Health, Medical, Bio or Social Ethics (3 credits) as a prerequisite, do you think philosophy, pharmacology or medical terminology count would count?(pharm and med term are prereqs for NVCC's program and philosophy I am doing to fulfill humanities). Also does anyone have any recommendations for a living situation, such as areas (cities/apartment complexes,ect..) I should look for, for a roommate on craigslist. I want the area to be relatively safe, affordable, and close to the school(hopefully not asking for too much!!).
  2. For those that did the anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 plus microbiology route, did you take a years worth of chemistry to get into microbiology or did they let you take micro without the years worth of chem. I really don't want to the NAS route since I plan on later on going back for my BSN. I'm going to talk with the assistant dean, but I'm worried she might say no since I hear some of the people who were approved to take it without the chem prerequisites already have a bachelors degree..
  3. Hey guys I have a question! I just realized that to get into microbiology you have to do a years worth of chem and bio, i'm doing a and p now but i would have taken chem as well this semester if I knew... Do you guys think that if I get a good grade in chem next semester they might waive off the years requirement? also... those who got in the program did you all have your corequisites done? i'm starting to wonder if i would even get accepted into the program without having all of them done first since the program is sooo competive. i'm trying to think how much i should load up next semester... if theres no chance of me getting in otherwise i'll load up, but i would rather not and focus as much as i can on the classes i'm taking. any feedback would be appreciated!!!
  4. I am going to have to go in and maybe talk to the dean in person. I emailed her a few days ago and she never replied back... =[
  5. Hi, everyone! I was looking at the prerequisite science sequence and I wanted to do anatomy/physio 1 and 2 plus microbio... I am currently in anat/physio 1. I was looking at posts from last year saying you need to take chem and maybe bio to take microbio... but when I look at prereqs I just see that I need to take bio 141(anat/phy) as a prereq for micro and I just wanted to confirm that's true... I'll probably call the school soon, since I'm a little confused, maybe they changed it during the past year or I'm just not reading the right info. I also have another question... does NoVa look at just prereq gpa or overall gpa or both?
  6. I was wondering how you guys recommended studying for the TEAS. It seems like everyone who replied in this post has amazing scorees(90 plus!) do you guys have any tips? I know the ATI book is good, but did you use any other resources?
