  1. wow, It has been a while since I post anything my semester was hectic...foundations of nursing with clinical rotation, pharmacology and med surg with med knowledge was no joke but I made it. so this is how nursing school is to me READ READ READ everything do not skim through your chapters. I will tell you youtube (micheal linares)big help to see skills and great with medsurg. my grades are good so far but I start med-surgII,medsurgIII and medsurgIV and with med knowledge and pharmacology. Yes, pharmacology follows you until school is over we are allowed to use calculators now but I had to pass foundations first. Foundations was a struggle for a lot of my class even me until I figured out the concept. If you have past medical experience as a CNA forget your work experience all of your test will be patient to nurse scenario? not what you would do or have seen at work, answer the question from the knowledge of the book there are 2 definitely wrong answer and 2 right answer however you have to choose the best answer. when you learn Maslow needs of hierarchy this is your tool and learn how to prioritize (ABC) so read your questions thoroughly one word can make you choose the wrong answer. I didn't not use any of my power points that my teacher gave none of us did its just and outline all the information is in text. Now as for as pharmacology you have to practice we had to do it all by hand in the beginning until we got to med-surg. so med surg is going back to you anatomy and physiology yes im sure you may know how the body works and heart pumps but med surg is all the disorders when these organs does not function properly and adults is not as hard as peds but some systems go hand in hand. Med knowledge is learning the drugs with each system. I used really big flash cards and its a memory game I carry those cards every where. I hope this helps some of you some of you who are confused. if you have question I will try my best to ask them best I can. As you have read school is hard work but the pay off is worth having so buckle down and keep the determinationand stay away from negative classmates

  6. during my 1st semester of nursing school we had so many books it was ridiculous a regular book bag just would get it. so I bought a tote rolling bag my entire class has one and when I go to clinical I just use a large tote bag.
  7. I start tomorrow, excited and nervous
  8. @ heavensangel Congrats! to you I'm sure you will do well in your endeavors with school or whatever you put your mind to. Remember, "You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you"
  9. I believe what you describe is what I'm feeling. I'm still going to put my all into school but I can't believe this is really happening. I'm thankful:)
  10. hello everyone, just a little background I started my journey on nursing back in 2008 after completing my core. I got accepted in to the lpn program for spring of 2011 however I passed it up to move when my husband got relocated to another state (military).I always had should've, would've, could've in the back of mind for giving up my dream so I applied back to the lpn program and was accepted. so my husband got orders for deployment and now in back in our hometown. I completed our mandatory orientation for school and I was so excited about orientation even more ecstatic when I got the acceptance letter. However, here's my problem class starts in two weeks and all my anxious and happiness has faded away and I'm not sure why? I wanted to be a nurse since 2006 I know I will make a great nurse but what's wrong with me? has this happen to anyone else if so how did you deal with your emotions?
  11. wide ruled. I write really big and sometimes I still go over the lines. even though you can write more on college ruled I rather have multiple pages of notes than to write small.
  12. i start next month and im nervous as well; however we have a two day mandatory orientation the end of this month to go over rules and ATI testing. I think the thing that has me nervous the most is when the dean of the school told us at our first meeting to get our schedule on Monday that we may have to forget having a social life (that's a given fact) but also forget about eating a daily decent meal and have to settle for sandwiches...:***:
  13. congrats! I start this fall as well. best wishes:up:
  14. Congrats! Im three semesters away from finishing. I'm a military wife currently dealing with a deployment and I have 2.5 kids (.5 is my yorkie too). Hard work and dedication pays off..thats what i remind myself daily
  15. hey i have two children as well and i know the frustration with extensive waiting list for schools with the ADN. Im starting the LPN program this fall for that reason. When it comes to jobs i would definetly do my research as mention LPN are being branch out to LTC and in clinical settings in the long run its what best for you and your family.
  16. i know your anxiety is out this world but keep in touch with your status. Best of luck to you:up:
  17. I am excited and anxious
  18. Thankyou. I get my scedule on July 8th and orientation starts July 30-31 from 8-2pm. I'm so excited:)
  19. my first choice is a military installation outpatient clinic; my second choice is a dialysis center
  20. I start August 19 cc in GA. it's a 12 month program I knew I wanted to be a nurse after I became a CNA. I knew that this was the career for me program cost is around $8000 not sure the hours dont get my schedule until july
  21. I finally got my acceptance letter to start the LPN program this fall. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. After going to the mail box daily impatiently waiting on the mail man and calling the school asking, "when will they start mailing acceptance letters?" then to recieve answer, we are still working in them... wait......(looks at phone) what? .However the wait is over. I have a two day orientation in July. I'm new to all nurses. I sign up looking for great insight along the way and also a place to rant with other who may feel my pain with the upcoming load up study material and clincals.
