Valley Presbyterian Hospital On-Site New Grad RN Hiring Event
I tried calling Tuesday. Got a hold of front desk who transferred me to HR but no one picked up. I called around 12:30. Not sure if they were on lunch. I haven't called since though.

Golden West College ADN Fall 2022
I believe their website states that in the event that a lot of people have the same number of points, the selection turns into a lottery and they pull candidates from there at random. So if a lot of people qualified, and it turned into a lottery, it was based on luck at that point. Thats how a lot of schools are. Sucks , but what can we do except keep trying . ?

Pasadena City College ADN Program Fall 2022
wait, you applied to both their LVN program and RN program??? I called and asked what the process was like for applicants who applied to both programs, like is it possible to be accepted to both? and the lady told me I could only choose one and one application would be discarded if I applied to both. So I didn't apply to the LVN program only RN.

Long Beach City College (LBCC) ADN Program Fall 2022
I haven't received anything. Do they also send out rejection letters? Some schools never send anything back. They should at least let us know if we didn't get in so we can move on. I'm sorry. ? Did they send it to your long beach school email or personal email in the application?

Long Beach City College (LBCC) ADN Program Fall 2022
Has anyone heard anything? I called the school and they said "within the next couple of days". I literally spent so much time being on hold and being transferred to 4 people only to get an estimate, LOL. But I guess we should be hearing back this week maybe?

Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health ADN Program Fall 2022
I sent an email asking "if the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of spaces available does it become a lottery?" They haven't replied, but this seems to the norm for almost all community colleges. There is no way they only had 50 qualified applicants. They prob had hundreds of people with 86+ points and just started picking at random from that group. I'm gonna email them again and ask if we can get another chance at the interview if we apply again in the fall. If not, then I'm moving on to other schools.

Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health ADN Program Fall 2022
wow, are you serious?! That seems kinda unfair. I got zero points, but I figured I would have a second chance next application cycle, but I guess not. I had 89 points before the interview but didn't get selected even thought the cut off was 86. So now that I won't have another chance at the interview means I will stay at 89, LOL. I guess I'm gonna start filling out my application for west coast, fml. By the way, when you fill out the application does it ask you if you have applied before? Because on my rejection letter says if you want to be considered again to send in a letter or else they will get rid of your file. So lets say I let them get rid of my file and I apply again next cohort will I be invited to the interview since they got rid of all my info? LOL just wondering...

Did you have to fill out an application again on the portal? Or was the information just carried over?
-
Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health ADN Program Fall 2022
So I got my rejection letter and it states if you want to be considered for the next cohort you have to submit "a letter indicating you want to be considered for Spring 2023". I'm gonna email them tomorrow because I have no idea what to put on this letter. Like, is it like a statement of purpose letter? Or literally a letter with a couple of sentences stating you want to be considered again for the next cohort?

Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health ADN Program Fall 2022
I think this interviewer is just burnt out. She had no facial expressions and seemed annoyed at everything we did. They paired us into groups of two for the interview and both of us were back in the classroom and we waited there in silence for like ten minutes until everyone else got back from their interviews. After the we were dismissed I asked three other people about their experience and they all said they kept talking until their time was up, LOL. So I guess its just a hit or miss with the people conducting the interviews.

The person that interviewed me was the older asian lady ( I think she is Filipina) and she literally cut me off when I was trying to answer her question on what inspired me to be an nurse. I had just started talking for no more than 10 seconds when she interrupted me and asked "OK, why this school though?" and again she cut me off. I thought it was rude, but obviously didn't say anything. My roommates friend went to the 1:30pm interview session and she had this same lady who cut her off as well. I didn't get any points for the interview. Not complaining, just letting all those who didn't get accepted to pray not to get this lady assigned to you next time, LOL.

If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the openings available does it turn into a lottery system?

OK, I'm glad I'm not alone. I was going crazy trying so many different ways to create a profile. I forgot today was a holiday so I will call tomorrow and ask if they are aware of the problem. Hopefully it can be resolved soon.

Is anyone else having trouble creating a profile? When I try to create a profile it says to disable pop-ups, which I have and nothing happens when I click on the "create" button to create my profile. I've tried on different computers, ipad, phone, laptop and keep getting the same problem.

Anyone having trouble creating profile for LA Country Nursing Fall 2022?
Please tell me I’m not the only one having trouble creating a profile/application for Los Angeles County Nursing program. The website says to enable pop-ups and I’ve allowed all pop-ups and nothing happens after I fill in my information and click “create”. I’ve tried submitting my application on computer, laptop, phone, tablet and nothing happens! During the info session they said the application was going to open on Jan 14th due to the 15th being a Saturday . I’ll try again Monday. Maybe they locked the application until the 17.

CSUN ABSN 2020
Not sure if anyone has an answer but on the CSUN website it states "A bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. institution or international equivalent with a GPA of 3.0 or higher or a master’s degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher" I went to a community college and then transferred to a 4 year university. Do I use the 4 year university GPA I graduated with or do I have to calculate the overall GPA and include my community college GPA in there? I'm just curious because I stumbled into another forum and there was a discussion about the overall GPA including both community college GPA and the university GPA....

How to prepare for the job market?
I am about to graduate from a four year university, and like many people chose the wrong major (social science) . I am unemployable, haha! I was planning on doing an accelerated BSN program, but that plan fell through, so now I am going to do the two year RN program at my local community college. I've read tons of posts here about people stating they can't find a job after graduation because the field is so saturated with nurses. I am here to ask for help and learn from your success, experience, and mistakes. As a pre-nursing student what can I do to butter myself up for success? What will look good on a resume? I am looking for a CNA program so I can get some experience as well as grow my resume. Is this a step in the right direction? Another concern I have is the degree. The RN program at my local CC offers an associates degree. I know the market is tough and preference for BSN grads is high. I DO plan on getting my BSN, but can't afford to be in school for 4 years so my plan was to get my RN license and then do an RN to BSN program. If I work through nursing school as a CNA, volunteer, network, internship, etc., will employers consider hiring an RN with an associates? Sorry for bombarding you all with questions, but I am worried and just want advice from those who are currently in the field and know first hand the hell is going on, lol. *Please don't tell me the nursing field is saturated (I know it is) and that I should look for another career. That's why I'm here, hehe. Thank you!

Your experience with Red Cross CNA program?
I looked through previous threads and many of you said that community colleges were a great place to get a CNA certification. I called four community colleges in my area to inquire about the program but was disappointed to find out they had all been shut down. I know those commercial colleges that are advertised everywhere offer CNA classes, but those things pricey. Most of their programs cost about 3000-4000 VS 600-900 at CC. I also found out about the Red Cross CNA program, which costs 1500 and last only 28 days. I think its still pricey, but ideal. Have any of you completed your CNA certification through the Red Cross? If so, how was your experience? Was it worth it? Did you feel prepared to enter the work field? What was the process like? orientation, paperwork required? Thanks in advance for your responses!
