  1. Hey if that's true-I can't wait! But also sounds a bit boring haha. Might have to get another job so I don't feel like I'm wasting my life away haha
  2. I am entering my second semester next week. I worked around 33-35 hours last semester while enrolled full time. It was really hard at times especially when my group wanted to study or something, but I had to work. I also did not hang out with my friends very often, though I did make exceptions to keep my sanity. I lived off of 4-5 hours of sleep, then going to class and immediately work right after. I didn't get home most nights until 10 or 11, sometimes later. And then I would study until I couldn't comprehend anymore. Then wake up and do it all over again. From the start of school until Thanksgiving break I had either worked, had class/clinical/lab, or did both every single day for exactly 90 days. It sucks, but it's doable. I plan on doing the exact same thing this semester, hopefully I don't get gray hair by the time I'm done with school haha
  3. In my program we use Ackley's Nursing Diagnosis Handbook, and I really like it. You could look and see if it's something you'd like. Nursing Diagnosis Handbook: An Evidence-Based Guide to Planning Care, 10e: 9780323085496: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com I like it because in the beginning it has common disorders with common nursing diagnoses for each of them. Then it goes into detail on the diagnoses. Hope you find one that you like! :)
  4. My first semester (BSN) was really overwhelming. My program tells us not to work more than 15 hours a week, but I have bills to pay and I ended up working around 33-35 hours a week. I'm a traditional student, so I don't have a family or a boyfriend or anything like that, but I still felt like I never had time for anything. I did make time for my friends and having fun, going out to eat, and things like that. I made it out with all B's, which I am happy with. I had pharmacology I, health assessment, fundamentals, and mental health. It's my worst semester that I've had in a really long time, but I'm proud of myself for working so much and getting decent grades. It's not impossible, I'm sure you'll do great! To answer your questions... I thought health assessment was the hardest because we had a head to toe assessment, and our tests were not anything like what we learned in class--they were what we did in lab. My head to toe assessment went really well, though. My pharmacology class was really difficult, too, but my professor was Korean and I couldn't understand a word she said. My easiest class was mental health, I loved going to clinical and my professor was the sweetest lady. I wish I would have had better time management, I would come home from having class for 8 hours, and then work for 6 hours, and I would be so exhausted so I would just sit there and go on facebook or something when I should have been studying. I wish I would have been warned about trusting my instincts. When I went into my patients room, I would feel so uncomfortable because I thought they would judge me for being a student, but it turns out sometimes we actually know a lot more than we give ourselves credit for.
  5. At my university A&P is one 6 credit class. We have class Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with a three hour lab. It's not too bad since you have it almost every day. I'm kind of glad ours is like that because I can get it done and over with. Our A&P class is like that because you have to take patho and A&P is a prereq. It's pretty fast paced, we covered a topic every week, and the lab practicals were hell-but nothing that you couldn't handle. If I could go back and take A&P I and II, I wouldn't-I liked only having to deal with it for one semester (hehe). Although, there are some people in my class who would have been way better off taking the two part course. I think it just depends on how well you can keep up with the material.
  6. At my school we have A&P 1&2 in one class worth 6 credits. Is that going to be a lot harder than taking two semesters?
