Seeing patients without a provider on the premises. Help please, I am an LVN
Thank you for your information. It is very hard to find a clear cut answer as there are thousands of laws. I have searched the AMA, CA Medial Board, and Telemed.gov sites, even the nursing board site. It is impossible to get a definitive answer just by reading through never ending legal information that never hits on the point. Yes, I thought of talking to a lawyer, but I'm sure my employer would not appreciate me contacting their lawyer, and I did send an email to the Director of Clinics only to not get a response - I got the hint he does not want an issue over it. I do have a final step that I think I will get an answer. I now beleive, as well, that it is okay that I see patients as long as nothing invasive is done. It could be more of a liability for the organization and less likely for me. Though my concern is not just about me, but is for everyone as a whole. Thank you for your interest and help!!!

Seeing patients without a provider on the premises. Help please, I am an LVN
Well possibly, however the parient(s) will be in the office to see a Dr. of Psychology over the TV (telemed). But there will be no provider physically here if something goes wrong (heart attack, stroke, compative patient, allergic reaction, etc).

Seeing patients without a provider on the premises. Help please, I am an LVN
I am scheduled to see patients without a provider on the premises at a clinic where I work. Where do I find California law regarding having clinics being open without a provider on the premises - I thought it was illegal due to the fact it puts patients and facility at risk for liability, let alone the risk to myself and the one other front office staff member. That particular day I will be bringing patients back to see the psychologist via telemed (TV). I would like to find proof that it is not standard practice. Thank you for your support, it is much appreciated.

Ok. - In 2001 I received my LVN Certification at a particular college (X) without an AS degree. - In 2009/10 I started working on some pre-requisites at community college (Z) to get into a particular ADN program that is out of my geographical area. I then went into the ADN step-up program and failed clinical (My nervousness did not help me around this particular instructor; however, I did well earlier that day with another instructer). Whatever. - I went back to College (Z) to complete my AS degree. I arranged it with them so that they would give me an Associates of Science LVN degree, and they did once I transferred my LVN program transcripts from the first college (X). At both community colleges (X & Z) I did very well. - I then tried another ADN upgrade program and was 1/2 way thru the last semester and got axed from the clinical rotation I ironically did fine in at the other ADN school. Geez, maybe I just need to step back and take a break.

Yeah. Ha. Nursing shortage - Schools crank nurses out like crazy. I expect there will be a nursing shortage to come for other reasons other that the "Baby Boomer" theory. Thanks for your input;)

My goodness Bayat. I wish I had known about All Nurses years ago - It has been a wealth of information thus far. This has been a painful transition for me and I can't tell you how much I appreciate the time that you spent knowing that there must be thousands of registered users. I thought my resume seemed cluttered but I was not sure what I needed to keep, delete or rearrange. Your response is exactly what I was looking for. By the way, I aqcuired my AS degree for my LVN in 2012 after I got my LVN certification & license in 2001 from a different college. Thank you so very much.

Bad move to interview in your scrubs?
I've been told you can go in scrubs and be ready to work. I would prefer to interview in scrubs, but I believe it depends on who you are dealing with - big facility, little facility, rural versus urban, and the personnality of the interviewers. But how are you to know. I agree with your comment and the below comment. Use discretion. I always fear I'm going to over professionalize my dress and look better and more professional than the interviewee, so I tend towards business casual attire.

No job experience
As you may already know, it can help to practice answering some of these questions with a friend or out load to yourself prior to interview. As you read the questions above, you might right away have confidence on how you would answer some of them; however, sometimes it can be different when saying it out load and especially for the first time.

Need application and resume advise
Thank you so much for your advice, it already has helped. Yes - the AS degree at the other school was Honors. LVN certificate I have to dig out and look at my grade point average - it was good too, something like 3.5 to 3.8. You are so sweet to sent me the above quotes.:)

Need application and resume advise
Hello to all, I am writing in hopes to acquire some good advice. I have failed ADN program twice. I have spent the last 4 years trying to complete an ADN program (1 year prerequisite, 3 years ADN step-up from LPN). You could say that with all the ADN classes I have completed, and what I have learned from the error of my ways, I could well be an RN, or could challenge the NCLEX and pass if there was such a thing. Ironically, I failed the very clinical rotation I successfully made through in the other school. I only had 10 week to go. I have lost well over $100,000 within these years and I have not worked because I wanted to give the ADN all I could in hopes in making sure I achieved my desired dream. I have spent so much time trying to move forward into a certain direction it has been difficult for me to move back and/or into a different direction. I must say that I have read that other people have gone through this same hardship, and it is good to hear that they have passed nursing school after the third time around. It is also good to see some of the more positive responses of support from this website toward these people who have failed and are looking for some encouragement to go back to school. However, I do not have the luxury of trying a 3rd time. It is now time for me to go back to work. I will first look for long term care and/or family practice work as a LPN - maybe per diem. Hospital is not out of the question but I do want to try for the other first. I have 3 questions and have attached my resume: 1) As I have mentioned I have not worked for 4 years and I now need a job. I am not sure if I need to disclose the fact that I have been through nursing school twice within 3 years and failed both (1 year of prerequisites and 3 years ADN Programs), or just say "I've been going to school and spending time with my husband while we have the opportunity, but know I'm ready to go back to work." ??? 2) They say you only need to disclose 10 work experience years. I had worked for the same health care facility for over 11 years with a 1.5 year break for LPN schooling to make a total of a 13 year span. On Resume I will only show one employer that represents 10 years. On application will I need to list more employers beyond the 10 years or just keep it to the one employer??? 3) Would anyone look at my resume below and let me know what they think? Your advice would be invaluable. The format is a little off. I manage to get it all on one page but had to make margins less than 1 inch. Thank you. Name Name Name, L.P.N.
