  1. I have never heard of anyone getting a false positive. I've heard of one person getting the cc page but they actually passed. It worked for both my LPN and RN as well as with 4 of my friends from school, that have taken it so far. But you won't stop worrying until you get your quick results and see your name on the registry for the first time. :) best of luck!
  2. If you're having a hard time determining what the question is I would look towards Kaplan. It helps you break the question down into a stem - what the question is really asking for, and then takes you through four more steps. Good luck!
  3. Eek 1000 questions a day?? We were told my the Kaplan reviewer to not take more than 150 questions a day or you'll get burnt out! Can't have this test take over your life girl! I studied for only a week prior to my actual exam date and finished with the minimum amount of questions for both LPN and RN. :). Don't overdo it or overthink it!
  4. When I did my LPN last year I used a random book I picked up at the bookstore. As long as you're practicing nclex questions then you'll do great! For my RN boards this year I used Kaplan which was provided through my school and was surprised how helpful it was. Good luck!!
  5. I also used Kaplan. I used the course review book and the online qbank and trainers. I studied for about a week before I took my boards and got 75 questions with 7 select all that apply with quite a bit of delegation and prioritization. Good luck to you!!
  6. It's definitely doable if you want it to be! I worked full time (36-54) hours a week during nursing school and finished with great grades. I honestly didn't have much of a life outside of work and school but it was only temporary and I wouldn't have done it any other way now that I'm done.
  7. That's a hard question to answer...it's all your preference how much you're comfortable working during school. I worked 36-50 hours a week during my two year RN program. It's definitely doable if you put your mind to it! And my school was 30 minutes away with clinical sites up to an hour away. Good luck for the remainder of your schooling! :)
  8. Good luck!! I took Benadryl the night before I took mine to fall asleep. :) and remember to focus on what the question is asking you as well as take your time!
  9. The hard thing about NCLEX like everyone else said above is its really different for each person. I finished in 75 questions and only had 7 select all and no math while my best friend tested Thursday and went the full 275 and had a ton of select all and other alternative questions. We had both gotten a lot of delegation and priority questions. Good luck to you!!

Hi everyone! I'm looking to potentially move to Milwaukee and was wondering if anyone could give me an insight on places to live/cost of living etc. I've been trying to do quite a bit of research but the internet only tells so much! Also, a ballpark range of what new nurses start at at a hospital there? Currently I'm looking at the southern side and heard that Jackson Park is a good place to live? Thanks for the help in advance!
  11. I didn't have any hot spot questions, but I've heard they can test pretty heavily on fetal heart tones and EKG finding the pvcs or things like that. The only way to get better at them is to practice them and I think of each answer as true or false related to the question. Not sure if that makes sense but that worked for me.
  12. I only used the Kaplan review book and that worked well for me. Also had done all the trainers during my last semester except for 7 which I took a few days before my actual exam and about half of the qbank questions. Good luck! Thinking positive is a great way to gain confidence as well:)
  13. No problem! :) hope you receive good news!!
  14. I'm confused about what's going on here. I'm sorry to hear you're going through a tough time. Hope things look up soon.
  15. You shouldn't be taking more than 150 questions a day, that could be your issue. You can study everything under the sun and nclex will still stump you. Take it easy for a while, I spent a week studying for my boards and finished with 75 questions and 7 select all that applied. Just don't overthink it. I would do 10 qbank questions at a time and that worked really well for me. Good luck!!
  16. I used it for my LPN and RN licenses and it was accurate. I've never heard of anyone getting a "false positive". Good luck!
  17. Through school we were required to so Kaplan so i only did the qbank and the trainers. I didn't have an actual course. But I think it was really helpful! Like I said in another post the remediation is annoying but that's where you learn a ton of content! Good luck!!!
  18. Its recommended that you work in an ER for two years prior to take the exam..so I wouldn't think that would really help you any. Do you have other certifications - ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP? Maybe try applying to a level 3 or 4 trauma center, not sure what the hospitals are like out there but level 1 and 2s usually don't hire nurses without ER experience.

I used both. I read the book two days before I took the nclex and then had been using the online stuff - trainers and qbank about a week prior.
  20. I was surprised how much the Kaplan questions were to boards! They're very comparable!
  21. Congrats!! Its an awesome feeling!!
  22. Nope you should still receive them on Saturday! And don't stress yourself out in looking earlier than 48 hours for quick results...they come up almost exactly 48 hours after your test :) Good luck!!!!
  23. Congrats!! I took my NCLEX on Monday, and found out this morning officially passed!! I did the PVT but needed the concrete answer of pass or fail :) I also got 75 questions, only had 7 select all that apply and no math! As well as I used Kaplan, but only did about half of the qbank. Good luck job hunting, RN!!!! :)
  24. Good luck!!! Positive thoughts and remember to breath! :)
  25. Thank you!! Just got my quick results and I passed!! I had taken my LPN boards last year so it was definitely comparable to that. I had 75 questions, only 7 that were select all that apply and no math questions..which I was surprised about! Kaplan helped me, I absolutely hated doing the remediation but I really think that's what helped me and the questions that were on boards were similar to Kaplan! Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!! :)
