Can you become a wound care specialist right out of school?
Hello, I took online class at Wicks Educational and passed certification exam. Out hospital is offering couple of positions, I applied, had an interview, doesn't look like I am going to get the job, although I am working at the hospital for 8 years as a bedside nurse. My question is where should I go to get an experience as a wound care nurse. I work 3 days a week, so I can do couple of days a week doing wounds. Please let me know if you have an idea. Thank you.

What kind of dressing for this patient...
I think, for wound 2 at left ischium, stage 3 with "hardly any drainage present" therahoney/medihoney would maintain moist environment. Stage 2 at the ankles will benefit from foam application, that takes care of heavy drainage. This will take care of heavy exudate and maceration. My questions is is he spending too much time in chair (wounds at the right & left ischial tuberosity)? Probably, time in chair needs to be limited. Consider cushion in chair to relieve pressure.
