  1. Kwantlen offers an accelerated program that's only 2.5 years. Check out their Bachelor of Science in Nursing Post-Baccalaureate.
  2. Has anyone checked out the moodle site yet? If not, just google "moodle Kwantlen" and sign in with student ID and password. There are three things listed at the moment but I think BSN-PB Central Circle is most helpful right now, has the list of iPad apps, and of course you can browse around and read the other info. Hope that's helpful!
  3. No worries Tehillah, I understand privacy preferences :)
  4. Yes of course! It's called Kwantlen Bachelor of Nursing Post-Baccalaureate (Class of 2015), I also tagged it the following tags: Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Nursing, and Post-Baccalaureate in hopes that people will find it that way too :) Let me know if it is searchable!
  5. Hi Tehillah, Did we meet on orientation? I hope you're the person I'm thinking of! Glad you found the forum :) Excited to start all of you guys next week! :)
  6. Hi Calmwaters, I apologize I didn't get to reply right away, I'm glad Tehillah replied and that's basically what we did on orientation. And thank you for clarifying which room we start in saves us having to rush to the right room!
  7. Just putting this out there if you'd like to join our batch FB page let me know
  8. Hi CalmWaters, Congratulations! Will you be going to the orientation on Wednesday Aug 28? I'll be there, maybe I'll meet you :) Anyway, no I have not done the Fit Testing... they have not mentioned when to do it yet, I'm thinking they will let us know once we are close to doing clinical placements. Have you gotten the email about schedules for Simulation Labs? That's about it and the welcome email from today, but I'm assuming you got already. Hope that helped, and hope to meet you soon! :)
  9. It's a random draw from what I read from the site, correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. Yeah good point about the up coming weekends, so I say yes to a weekend in July after the long weekend. Sure we can do facebook, I'll PM you my username... hopefully it works as I'm on private and I don't think I'll come up on search.
  11. @al0a: about the hiring fair, that's all she said to me that it's in March and it's at the Central City location... I'm going to ask about it once we are in the program. Yeah I can do weekends, just would need a heads up on when we are all available to meet up :) also which malls are closest to you guys: Surrey Central City, Guildford Town Centre, Metrotown, Lougheed, Willowbrook? You can PM me too!
  12. Oh al0a, to give ya a heads up if you're doing the TB skin test you have to come in for the results after 48ish hours or 2 days so you'll get it done before the deadline, no need to worry!
  13. Yay! Awesome! I'm just waiting in line to hand in my stuff haha, pretty long line so I went here to check responses. And thanks for answering my question about the ESN thing, totally understand... I'm sure they'll let us know more about it once the right time comes. I just get excited and want to do what I can to prepare for it :) Also a tidbit, I don't know if you guys know about the big hiring fair in March according to my supervisor at the clinic I do volunteer at, I think it's only for Fraser Health... Not sure about other Authorities. Can't wait too! I think we can get student ID's and things like that done during orientation, right? That's what I remember reading anyway.
  14. Oh and also is anyone else doing orientation in August? I signed up for the 28th of August (Wednesday at Langley Campus) :)
  15. @ al0a: Had a question about whether they mentioned in the info session, ESN opportunities and roughly how it works, if at all available in conjunction with our program?
  16. I'm taking it with Vancouver First Aid (Canadian Red Cross) this weekend, had a bit of a scare today as they moved locations and I didn't get the email. Good thing I double checked and called so I made it on time... I was super worried I would have to do it next weekend. But I got today done, then one more day tomorrow :) Next time I might just go with St. John's as they are more widely recognized I think. al0a, I didn't know you could hand in the immunizations form partly done, did you mean you handed in all test results with the form or just the form? Anyway, I completed the form just yesterday so I'm just waiting to finish my First Aid tomorrow so I can hand both Immunizations and First Aid requirements on Monday :) Oh and yes okay, about the meet up, how is everyone's schedule during the day/week? I mean would it be better on a weekday or weekend, since we work (or at least al0a does from what I remember you mentioned, and I do too but just part time so I'm a bit more flexible).
  17. Hi al0a, Hmmm, I don't know if we need 15 each... I guess we will find out if I message you and if you can reply or not haha! When are you guys doing your Standard First Aid with CPR C? I have the 2 day course this weekend
  18. Hi al0a, Oh okay, yeah I've been trying to find a job related to my degree but most of the lab/research jobs, or even just lab assistant require experience in the industry (I have very limited from school and did a term of undergrad research but that's it ). So, for now just doing part-time working (ABA work for autistic kids). P.S. Yay! We are almost at 15 posts lol, I've been waiting to get the private message option because I was going to throw out this idea and see if you, june_flower, or anyone else would like to do a casual meet up like for tea/coffee at a mall or something just to get to know one another ..I think that'd be cool even before we start the program. Just a suggestion, quite a random idea I got today while I was at my volunteer this morning. We could work out the details if anyone's interested, and do it through private message if people are worried about giving out personal info on a public forum because I would be too .
  19. @ al0a: That's awesome! Did you do co-op in school? Just wondering, what field of work do you do? I sort of figured the iPad would be used for something along those lines, I don't mind actually. I just hope it works well. I choose to apply to Kwantlen for the shortened/accelerated program duration of 2.5 years as opposed to BCIT or Langara, which is 3 years. And as I mentioned earlier, I have a family member that went to Kwantlen, and she enjoyed it so that encouraged me to pursue it. UBC has a program that's ~1.8 years, just a year short of Kwantlen, but I missed the deadline for Sept 2013 intake. Did you apply elsewhere? @ june_flower: Yes it would be great to just get someone's opinion who is currently doing the program. I wish they knew about this site or cared to post even a few tips or whatnot!
  20. @ al0a: I forgot to answer your question, most of the information I know about the program is from the website. I have come across that FAQs page too! A question to all: Has anybody found it a bit much or weird that they had "Apple iPad (latest model recommended)" as required technology? I mean, I have been meaning to get one eventually this just gave me more reason to get it sooner than later... Though I still need to save up a bit more since I'm not quite there yet. I guess I was just surprised, the days of laptops in class are too "outdated" now, tablets are in! Oh dear, makes me feel old haha!
  21. Hey al0a, I graduated last year because I just did the straight 4 years for my undergrad, I really wished I did some co-op! I think that would have helped a lot more with job hunting after I graduated. Did you graduate already? I haven't gone to the info session, I only heard about the program from a friend who also applied this cycle. She got into another school in Jan. so she's going to stick to that even though it's a 3 year program. Also, I know a family member who went to Kwantlen to do the refresher course for Nursing to take the CRNE.
  22. Ah apparently one needs to have 15 posts before being able to PM someone, okay guess I'll just have to post more till I go over that number haha :)
  23. Hey al0a, Thank you! Yes I'm working on the first aid and immunizations too! I've paid my deposit before May 31st because that's the deadline they had on the letter. And just registered for the courses today! When is your registration date? I did my undergrad at SFU, BSc. in Cellular Biology, how about you? It's definitely exciting!! A little nervous too XD but I've been looking for forums in case I come across someone else who is going into the same program, glad I found this hehe! So, I was wondering how to private message so we chat more ... I can't seem to find that button. I tried the profile but no luck.
  24. Congrats on getting an offer! I did too just working on the post-admission requirements like immunizations, etc. hope to meet you in Sept!
