Dose BON check school records ?
So I kind of get where you are coming from in the sense that those of us who worked as techs sometimes feel the first couple of semesters of nursing school are bringing other people up to speed. I worked in a hospital for years before nursing school and did feel like the first two semesters were a waste--the last 2 though are what made me a nurse. You may very well have a very good foundation and a wonderful caretaker but let me ask you whether the prison ever sent people out? Have you ever taken care of a vented patient? One with a lumbar drain? A chest tube? Can you read a rhythm strip? Do you know how to assess for suicidal ideation? You might even be able to assess when someone needs to go to the hospital but without the formal education combined with experience you won't pass Nclex and still need to make it through nursing school. it is frustrating but in healthcare overconfidence kills people. If you are serious about it it will be worth the work and the wait.

Any stories of Gait belt saves?
HI all! I working with an organization trying to get some "buy in" on consistent use of gait belts. It is a senior day center with great staff and great ratios. The staff don't all come from hospital or LTC backgrounds so use of gait belts is inconsistent. I am trying to convince the staff who think the current level of practice (inconsistent use) is fine that gait belts really do make a difference. I have my two stories of assisted falls but they are not really dramatic and because they took place in a hospital are discounted by some. Does anyone have any stories they would share (anonymously of course) about gait belt saves? I appreciate it.

should i give transcripts from all schools??
I wonder if this is true of grad schools attended? I had one incomplete that turned into an F from my final semester of grad school. hmm... I hadn't planned on including it but I guess now I will.

Advice needed very much. Community college or University?
I am waitlisted at my local community college as a backup. In the mean time I am taking the prereqs I will need for a BSN program if I am able to get in. From my limited experience in our area, our community college produces great nurses with great faculty support. I would prefer to do the BSN program to just get it done but I love the security of knowing that even if I don't get it I will still become a nurse. Good Luck!
