  1. I have had zero friends in nursing school and I'm almost done with the nursing BSN program. You will need a support system and having someone to talk to that is in your class or the nursing program would be helpful. However, your advisor or school counselor are very good people that can also be very helpful. I am 27 and I only had two really good people I could call or talk to and they were much older than me. I tried to talk, laugh, hangout and introduce myself to others in the program but no one never really welcomed me or invited me to their cliques/groups or study session. Thus, I just utilized the tutors available and would ask students who are more far along than me in the nursing program for advice. Don't feel disappointed. Just be yourself and don't worry about it. You don't need to make friends, I would say to just socialize and try to get to know people but friends don't matter because like I mentioned I had no friends but i would socialize with others and that was very helpful and satisfying to me because I found out things that I didn't know about that way.
  2. I gave myself less credit than I deserve. I know this stuff. I got an Nurse Extern Job and honestly everything was still in head. I felt like I didn't know but I did. I'm learning more now. Went to do an Nurse Externship on the med-surg floor. hated it during my clinical but it is great now.
  3. I have been trying to obtain a nursing intern interview and I have not gotten the job on the interviews I went to. I admit my first intern interview was very terrible. The second one i thought went great. The last one was a complete failure. I feel like that if i continue to go on interviews then once I do graduate then I would have already exhausted all my options in my city trying to obtain an internship position and I will not be considered for an actual nursing position due to those interviews. I am a senior nursing student. I have one more class to take before i start senior capstone. I feel like I do not know anything still even in my senior year. I've made it this far and I can't even remember the insulin peak or duration anymore. I feel like I've passed each class only knowing just enough to pass the test. This is bad. I want to really to be good competent nurse. I have a big weakness in communication and i definitely know that it has been a roadblock for me in obtaining the 2 of 3 intern interviews I've attended. Its not that i'm afraid to speak but I have a difficult time expressing my point or providing the explanation behind things to Nursing instructor/clinical instructors throughout my clinical experiences. Then there would be some things I would just not know which seems to be very basic in the instructor view. I would definitely seek out the answer after I've encountered something I didn't know. At this point I feel like a complete Idiot. Somethings that I did not do after my interviews was send a thank you note. Don't really know if that mattered after I've stumbled over my words during the interviewing process. They asked very basic questions, but to be honest I NEVER have been in a conflict with someone on a job or I never noticed anyone not pulling their weight on the job, I don't know how stressful a nursing job could be but i have a view of it and I suspect that it to be managed with time management skills and organization, and care plans and priority list. However, another nursing employee in the interview told me that it was IDEAL not realistic. so i'm confused because this is how i handled stress in school along with prayer. I was just trying to be honest in my interview and tell them simply that I am a good candidate but it has not worked with being honest. I don't have any other nursing or health care related experience besides school related. I fear that I will not be able to obtain a nursing job now in one of my dream jobs. Something I love doing. I need some advice, comments, or suggestions
  4. My best liked class this semester was Community Health and Aging Perspectives. My least liked class was Psych. It was not bad but talking/communication was a major focus and it was just not interesting to me.
  5. Don't beat yourself up about it and don't worry about your parents getting a divorce or holding them back. Your focus is on you and your future career. Nursing school is tough. Like many people have already mentioned most programs don't allow a repeat in addition to that a 75% achievement score is the lowest I've seen for passing. Most passing scores are at least between 77-80% percent to past. Furthermore, it is not the end of your journey, don't worry so much about graduating at the expected date because time will fly by fast. At least you know the material now and will be better prepared for next time. Then another advantage is that you could still keep in touch with your friends and they could let you know what to expect for the next classes you have to take. Please don't take on huge workload it will not be worth the stress. It is very discouraging, sad, angry and frustrating to know that you have failed a course and all you do is think about your mistakes. I have failed a nursing course before and the final exam is what caused me to fail by a point also. I have been praying and working more harder than usual, organized my time, and if i needed assistance on anything I would talk to my friends who have already taken the course, the people in my class and the instructor. It helps. Prayer for the most part. Try to stay positive about it.
  6. @t jessilleb Same to you on a successful trimester? Oh yeah my next question would be are you employed. The reason I asked because recently I ran across some one and they were like it was impossible to have a job and do the work . Of course its to each is own I guess I said that phrase right lol! But anyways just curious if you were employed and if it balances out for you or not.
  7. @t dooney123 Yeah i totally agree with you on that. Since you just finished patho, I wanted to try and get a headstart did you use any other books beside the required book? Also is there anything that you would suggest to review before entering the class such as anatomy of the heart or anything similar? Hello BTW.
  8. @t jessieleleb Its ok. Well I'm glad summer trimester is over whew! Didn't make the grade I wanted but I passed micro. As time is approaching for health assessment I'm getting a little nervous. This fall trimester is probably going to go by as fast as the summer. did you pass your classes? 8 hours a day is a lot but i understand. Did yo have a study group. Also sorry about the bold letters I'm using my tablet and the ttouch is acting up.
  9. Hi @dee1548 I just wanted to add onto the information about hooker. Yes i heard he is great. Additionally someone told me he uses powerpoint and to make sure i bring a recorder. She said because i will need to review what was said in the class. I dont know if he speaks loud enough or talks to fast it was a short convo. But with so much hype surrounding his name he has to be a good professor im guessing. I will be taking hooker for patho for the fall but not because I heard he is great because I also heard many good things about McDonald also but because it fits my schedule is the main reason. So I will found how good he is fall trimester.
  10. That sounds awesome about you passing your first med-surg exam. @t Jessieleleb. When is your expected graduation date? I start my clinicals summer 14. I'll be going into health assessment in the spring though. I would love to hear about your experiences from time to time when you have a chance. It will certainly help me know what the classes are like and what to expect. Since you have started your nursing classes how much time do you spend a day on studying? is more or same as usual? are the professors straightforward on what is going to be on your exam?
  11. @t Jessie Did you ever find anyone on here who actually have their courses right along with you? I'm glad that you had the guts to also start a new thread because I was wondering when someone else will talk about recent activities, or experiences ect.. at Baptist. OAN: thanks again.
  12. @t Jessieleeb Hi . I Finally found a Micro book. but I still want to thank you for helping me. Thanks again
  13. @t Jessieleleb The sooner the better. I'm very patient though. If you could do that for me it would be great. thanks for the reply.
  14. Hello @t Jessieleb This doesn't pertain to the original thread you posted, but anyways, I'm looking for a microbiology book. do you know of anyone who might have one? Currently the book is 150 dollars, and it can't be sold back plus it is specifically tailored by Michelle Alexander so there isn't an option to rent the book anywhere else. could help me find someone? or do you know of anyone? or do you have this book? Thanks
