  1. hi everyone! I got accepted this morning too! I got the email to log in and check my status at 10:40am this morning. For those who are wondering, they gave me until June 15th to submit my $2500 deposit. I will be accepting my spot and I'm looking forward to joining the cohort in May 2020!
  2. hi everyone, just got my not-so-good news. 2 in a day - ouch! Thanks for all your support! Congrats and the best of luck to all of you who got interviews!!! I'll be rooting for you!
  3. Hi everyone. I got my not so good news in the mail today as well. After shedding all my tears I just wanted to stop and tell everyone how much I really appreciate the support this site has given me. I know I will truly end up where I'm supposed to and I'm not giving up!!! It has been a pleasure and I will cross paths with you again in the future - as your colleague! Thanks guys and best of luck to everyone
  4. First off, congratulations to all of you who have received your interview invites!! I'm excited for you!!! And hi newmy123! I'm in San Jose (about 60 miles south of San Francisco), and I haven't received anything in the mail today either for the FNP specialty. I've been checking constantly! I still have high hopes - I'm not giving up!!! I truly believe I will end up where I'm supposed to and that makes me feel at peace :) so if you haven't gotten yours and you're located in Seattle, don't freak out just yet, haha. Best of luck to you and all of you still waiting!!! I'll respond with another note when I hear back
  5. congratulations Megan!!!!! :)
  6. If I had to guess, interview decisions will likely come around the 16th. The academic calendar online shows final exams running through the end of next week. So probably around the 16th, assuming the admissions committee meets once more before they leave for their holiday break. Good luck everyone!!!
  7. just wanted to wish everyone luck on getting an interview!!! I'm getting excited as the date gets closer! The admissions office said they'll have decisions made by Dec 16th. Thinkin' positive and crossin' my fingers :)
  8. i'm so glad I'm not the only one who's going nuts waiting for a response! I need a new hobby. All I do is talk, think, and dream about this. does anyone know what method UCSF uses to notify us of interview decisions? Is it snail mail or do they send us an email to check our status page online? Crossing my fingers for all of us!!!
  9. thanks mzaur for sharing what you know about this! :)
  10. Hi mzaur, my status page still reads exactly as yours does. Does anyone know if the first year GEPN is considered undergrad for financial aid purposes? mzaur, I came across one of your posts on another thread and you mentioned something about how some direct entry programs consider the first year as undergrad and that there's a limit to the amount an individual can take out in financial aid stafford loans for their undergrad education. Do you know if that's a lifetime max? Or is that for individuals who are still paying back their stafford loan when they enter the GEPN program? I received a stafford loan to help pay for my undergrad tuition back in 2002 but have since paid that off along with my other loans. So, I will be entering next fall without any previous student loans pending payment. Any info you might have would be appreciated. Thank you! :)
  11. hi n.a.norcal! I hope my advice helped and you were able to put together a great statement! However, I'd prefer not to share mine. Good luck to you though, and hopefully we'll meet on interview day! :)
  12. Congrats everyone for getting your applications in! I'm already getting restless waiting to hear back, lol! mzaur, Dec. 15th is the approximate date when we will hear back on whether we receive an interview. Did anyone else apply for FNP?
  13. hmm, yes I understand your concern with these questions. Perhaps begin with why you chose Nursing to begin with, then describe what attracts you to Advanced Practice specifically, based on your knowledge of the profession. There must be a reason why you're here at this point in your life. So dissect that and work with that in mind. Without shadowing, it may be difficult to pin point key elements that draw you to it. But if you speak from the heart, your genuine desires and interests about "why" will shine through. All you can do is work with what you do have and emphasize on what you really do know. It might help to have several friends or coworkers read your statement to get an idea on how it reads to others. I hope that helps hun. Good luck with it and I'll send good energy your way :)
  14. Hi n.a.norcal! My apps went well! I decided to only apply to UCSF and Yale. I feel really confident in what I submitted to both schools so hopefully things will work out. I know I'll end up where I'm supposed to though, whether I get in or not. Life has its way of working things out, so I'm trying to stay positive. How are yours coming along?
  15. Hi everyone! I just applied for the Fall 2014 cohort. I applied to the FNP specialty. I'm anxiously waiting for some news hopefully in the next month or two about interviews. Is it just me, or is this thread especially quiet this year? Anyhow, I hope I get to meet all of you at some point in the near future. Best of luck to you and have a fun and safe Halloween! :)
