  1. Can I get a link to the Facebook group too please.
  2. Can someone tell me how much the program costs all together? I cannot for the live of me find how much the program is on their website. Also any recent reviews and board pass rates would be great. Thank you!
  3. These posts have always confused me, especially since most MSN FNP programs I've been researching have ALL be online, regardless if it's a state school or for profit. In the state of Missouri there is ONE FNP program that a state school still offers in class, and fun fact, it's going online. I understand the resistance towards online programs and the fear that an NP may be ill prepared, but in the end you get the grades, and job with the amount of effort you put in. Even the school I go to currently has their FNP program online and requires you to find your own preceptors. Not all brick and mortar schools have people who find you a clinical site, most have you do it on your own and that seems to be the norm. I just really wish people would stop putting online programs down. They are not a bad thing at all.
  4. People seem confused about the sister school part so I just want to clear that up. (I'm pretty sure I understand because some of the smaller schools do something similar around here.) Basically two colleges will have a network set up to graduate BSN students because they don't have the faculty and or buildings to actually their own BSN program. So basically you would take your pre-reqs at school A and then once you're done with your pre-reqs you would then starts you nursing courses at school B as they have the faculty and space to run the rest of the program. If I remember correctly some school also use it to offset costs. So it is actually possible that school A could still be charging her as they might have missed the fact that she started at school B (These are typically two entirely different colleges who just work together on the program)
  5. Really? My recruiter told me that weren't looking at 2016 till August and I'm currently waiting on my interviews to complete my package. Are they really already full..?
  6. The NCP program currently has 70 spots from what I've been told by multiple recruiters. At least for my year. from what I was told your interviews, and motivation statements matter the most. They mainly use GPA to weed people out and anything above a 3.5 is good enough.
  7. Apparently there was just a mix up and I finished MEPS today. (Hoping everything checks out and I don't have to go back again) It actually went by super quick and I didn't experience any "hurry up and wait" it was just "hurry hurry hurry" , I stopped by my recruiters office, dropped off my references and my interviews are in the process of being scheduled. I asked again just to make sure I wasn't going crazy and was told that boards are opening august 1st, so the fact that I'm getting everything done early will work in my favor according to her.
  8. I understand your frustration with your recruiter, I was scheduled for MEPS next Tuesday (or so I was told) and was told to just double check a week before. Well, I've been trying to get a hold of someone in the office this week and literally, no one has picked up...what so ever. I'm assuming they're all out, but I got an email last night saying I wasn't scheduled for MEPS (from a completely different recruiter....?) and that he would need my paperwork. So right now I'm just super confused.
  9. Sorry for the super slow reply, I've been bombarded with tests and finals. I was told I needed 5 references (3 work, 2 professors) and if I was unable to get a work reference, replace them with a character reference. 5 was the minimum I needed, but I was also told I could get more than 5, so I figured 3 professor references, 1 work (all I could get), and 3 character references would serve me some good.
  10. That's awesome! I'm not too far from Mizzou actually! (withholding my school for privacy reasons). So far everything has been going smoothly, I have MEPS in about two weeks, and I'm just waiting on two more references, after that all I'll have are the interviews! Hoping everything keeps going smoothly, and maybe the boards will open up before Aug 1st. :)
  11. From what I was told by my recruiter as long as you have 12-24 months left of the program and you've been accepted (with an acceptance letter to the program). You can start your package. The reason I'm starting so early is because according to my recruiter, they'll be accepting packages starting August 1st and may open it up earlier.
  12. Well I graduate in 2016 and I'm starting my package now for the fall.
  13. Well, seems like I'm the only one applying for 16 currently who also happens to be on this website. So I guess I'll just update if anyone is looking at this thread lol. I had a meeting with my recruiter about two weeks about and got more information and my application started. I was told that there should be about 70 or so spots for this year, and there is a chance that they may open up early, so the sooner I can get my package done, the better. So far I have two references down, and 6 coming in. I'm having a little trouble on my motivational statement though, because i'm not sure if i should just type one giant paragraph or if it should be in essay format. So if anyone has any tips I would gladly appreciate it! As for everything else, I'm slowly getting the checklist done! I'll try to update every week or so.
  14. Hi! I noticed there wasn't one for the FY of 2016, and I start my package on Monday to be sent to the boards August 1st. (My recruiter told me the earlier the better). So same thing as the last thread, this will be an area to calm nerves and answer questions. Good luck to all who apply, or are thinking of applying!
  15. I don't mean to bring up an old thread, I just wanted to mention something. In the state of Missouri, this all depends on the school. I know most schools don't do the background until they accept you, and then its all depends on WHAT happened. Its not an automatic "sorry, you messed up good luck flipping burgers" if it was a first time and only offense (such as a DUI) Missouri almost always allows you to sit for your license, and I know plenty of nurses who are working with a first time offense on their records. A word of advice for everyone: We all screw up, sometimes its way bigger than others and we're left with a lingering reminder of what happened, none of us are perfect and you shouldn't let pass mistakes damage your dreams. Again, I'm using a DUI as an example, but if this is your first offense, and your only offense, don't let it ruin you, and don't let people scare you away from pursuing your dream. Plenty of states will allow you to sit for your license, and plenty of schools will allow you to complete their nursing programs. If you learned your lesson, show rehabilitation, and time has passed (Ex, the DUI happened your freshman year in college and three years letter you're ready to take the exam, with nothing happening at all in that time period) there is a 95% chance that you will be allowed to sit and get a license.
  16. So should I tell her that she should put it down and then talk to the healthcare recruiter about it? That seems like the best option because even though its been cleared, if they find it i'm sure they'll wonder why it was never mentioned.
  17. I'm sorry to bump up such an old thread but a friend of mine was looking into the NCP program and she asked a question that I wasn't really sure on how to answer so I figured I should get it clarified here. She wanted to know if the NCP program also involved a background check? She was mainly wondering because she just got a speeding ticket (she was going 15 over and from what I know it fell under reckless driving and she now has to take a driving class and what not) but she wanted to if she is having it cleared from her recorded after she completes the class. (According to the judge, after the class is completed it completely removed from her record) will that come to hurt her in the long run for the NCP program and will she have to put it down if asked? From what I was told, once you get it "expunged" you're legally allowed to say no, but honestly, if the person investigating tries hard enough they will find records of it. P.S She also just now informed me that she has a DUI from when she was 18 that was also removed from her record after completing the class (Missouri really enjoys removing things ) Besides that her record is pristine. She's had a 4.0 and continues to have a 4.0 in clinicals, runs track, president of 3 clubs. I just honestly didn't know what to tell her with the DUI and Ticket.
  18. I just wanted to add that the Navy and AF are still accepting new graduate nurses. From everyone I've talked to, depending on the route you take, will determine how much of a chance you have being accepted into it. Army is the only branch I know of that has almost completely shut off new grads.
  19. As far as I know. The Navy ROTC almost guarantees you a spot for their nursing program. (You still have to go through NCP, but they look rather highly on that) As far as the Air Force, ROTC guarantees you a spot (from what I'm told) with their nursing program. Army, you're not guaranteed an active duty slot. It's about a 50/50 shot from what I was told.
  20. Thanks! What did DOMERB entail exactly?
  21. I received an email from the guy who helped me fill out all my paperwork and he told me he had the Freshman class waived for me. In turn I would just do a longer field training session. (6 weeks instead of 4). So i'm assuming the last two weeks would be a refresher course of freshman year? Also, before you're allowed to go to field training you have to go through MEPS correct? or is that after you get your EA?
  22. I could be wrong, so someone feel free to correct me, when I was gathering information from recruiters and ROTC personnel, I was told that most ROTC for the army, would put you in the reserve due to being overstaffed with nurses. This is what I was told from the ROTC person, and he also informed me that most of the scholarships are EXTREMELY hard to obtain now due to budget cuts. So if I wanted to be Active Duty the Army would be a waste of my time, (but if your looking at reserves this might be good for you actually, unless you want some of the scholarship benefits) For me, I was trying to decide between the Air Force and Navy, and for awhile I was leaning towards the Navy because I literally could not get any information on the Air Force (both from recruiters and ROTC) till carolinapooh, and ?? (I'm on my phone, and I cant look up your name without losing this! I'll give you credit when I get home! promise!) which finalized my decision on the Air Force, and conveniently the Air Force ROTC detachment at my school finally got back in touch with me. Basically, doing Air Force ROTC guarantees me a slot in the NTP program (under the assumption I get a field training spot, and from what I told nurses are guaranteed a spot for it), which allows me to avoid the whole application process and the headache of worrying if I'm accepted or not. Even the recruiter for ROTC mentioned it, even though there is a small part of me that feels like with the budget cuts being a nursing major won't just give me a slot for field training, but we'll see. As for the reserve part, I'm not too sure on how that works with the Air Force ROTC, but I'm sure someone on the forums can help you out. ALSO, from what I was told, applying while your in the program provides you with less competition since you're not competing after graduation and you're against people with years of experience, for the Navy process. I'm sorry if this is a jumbled mess, trying to type on my phone with little to no typos is nearly impossible. Especially with auto-correct.
  23. Just got done filling out all my paper work! The guy was insanely nice and helpful explaining everything, and you guys were too! I just want to say thank you guys for the help! If you have any tips for the ROTC program I'll gladly take them
  24. Awesome! It looks like I'll be going in tomorrow to fill out my paperwork for ROTC then! By accepted, do you mean into the ROTC program or the nursing program? Also, is the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test also required? How is/was it? I may be a tad worried because standardized testing is not my forte.
