  1. Oh ok. Thank you. Just wanted to make sure! :)
  2. Did any of you guys get your books already?
  3. Can I have your email? I'll send you the conversation that i had with the lady who's currently in fourth semester right now. It's just too long to post it on here lol...If you don't mind!
  4. No problem :) Ill let you know if I hear anything else!
  5. Yeah the NLN accredited is making me lean towards Pierce more too because now tht the job market is really bad. I want to have as many options as possible. Since Pierce is NLN accredited and if its going to open more ways for me to get a job (cause like I said some hospitals look at that). I think it's the right decision to choose Pierce. It's up to you if you feel like Gcc is better for you then go with that. I also heard GCC program is good too! Talking so someone who actually is going there right now made me feel a lot better about Pierce :)
  6. This is what she said, " Overall, the program is a good way to really learn what nurses do and the responsibility that comes with the job. It's a good program in that sense and the instructors are actively employed in the area. So they bring in their work experience too. The program has a good reputation in the valley, if that's where you plan to end up."
  7. Yeah, she said we start med surg second semester. 3rd is labor and delivery with a little more med surg and 4th is pediatric and more med surg. I'm not sure if they have mannequins that we can practice on, I didn't ask but I'm sure we do. I think all nursing schools do. Yeah, I'm also an alternate at Pcc too and I was thinking the same too if they call me and offer me a spot, will I take it? Now that I talked to this girl who's in the fourth semester right now. I'm leaning more towards Pierce because she said pierce had a good reputation in the valley and plus its NLCN accredited (which idk if that matters) but I heard some hospitals look at that when you're trying to get a job like Kaiser :/
  8. I know!! It's coming up! I'm excited yet nervous at the same time too lol....so I was talking to someone who is in the fourth semester at Pierce right now and she said it's a good program. She said the program gets harder and harder (ofcourse) lol. She said at the end we will be spending a lot of time in clinical. She suggest that it's important to form a study group no more than 5 to motivate and help each other. She said in the beginning it's going to take us awhile to get used to the teaching method there because all they do is just lecture and not a lot of class discussions but we'll adjust to it and get the idea of how the class is going to be. Also we're required to pay for Kaplan access for the nclex prep every semester to help us get prepared for the nclex when we're done :)
  9. No not yet! They're taking forever! I'm checking my email every 5 minutes! Lol
  10. Oh ok thank you! and yes we will be busy! Oh god, I'm kind of nervous though lol
  11. Yeah. My registration date is may 28, but we won't be getting the info packets until June so I was confused if I should register before? Or wait till after I receive the info? Yeah, keep me posted please. Thank you :) did you look up the schedule for fall 2013 yet?
  12. Did you get your registration date yet?
  13. And thank you for following up :)
  14. Hey. No I didn't get anything yet. Yeah, they're taking forever! Maybe you should call them and ask. I called them 2 weeks ago and they said they're just waiting for people to take the teas :/
  15. Oh ok thank you for the info :)
  16. I'm reading previous posts from other people on other forum about LAHC. Last year people didn't get their acceptance/ rejection letter until almost the end of May. So I'm assuming we won't be hearing back until the end of this month then? I know the wait is killing me too! :/
  17. Hey! I decided I'll just write about pierce on this post instead of posting it through the Pcc one. So I asked my cousin's friend who went to Pierce. She said that the first semester teachers are kind of tough, but it's a good thing because they get us well prepared for the following semesters! She said some professors during first semester can be verbally abusive during clinical, but don't let that get to you. It made her stronger and learned a lot more. She's making me nervous! Lol. But I'm ready for this. I mean this is what we've been waiting for, and now that we are in we shouldn't let all the negative feedbacks bother us! :)
  18. No not yet. Nothing from harbor :/
  19. Hey, yeah I did. I just submitted my acceptance letter to them. Since I'm an alternate at Pcc, it's not a guarantee that I'm going to get in so I'm goin to take pierce. I don't want to wait for Pcc and then end up not getting anything if Pcc ends up not taking me lol. I do know people who dropped out from pierce but I also know people who graduated from there. And i alsp know people who dropped out from pcc also. Honestly, nursig program is going to be challenging anywhere, not just at pierce. I really think it depends on the person. What are you going to do?
  20. Congrats!! I also got an email from LA Pierce College today too that i got accepted. However, I'm an alternate for pcc but I'm happy atleast I got accepted into somewhere :) Have you heard anything about LA Pierce college nursing program? I tried to search on allnurses.com but not a lot of stuff came up for Pierce.
  21. Yeah the area around there is pretty ghetto lol. I mean I'm sure there are some nice areas cause I mean everywhere has its own nice and bad areas. But the area where LAHC is its pretty ghetto and rent around there is kind of high too for a mediocre room cause it's around the school. I would say try to find a place that's in the city next to it or somethig. Thats what im going to do if i get accepted there. Unless money is not an issue for you then ofcourse it's better to live close to LAHC :)
  22. They said I should be hearing back in May. Well Pcc already responded to some people who got in yesterday, but I didn't receive any email from them so I'm assuming I didn't make it. And the area around LAHC is ok I guess? Lol. Idk when I went to drop off my application it seem kind of ghetto lol. yeah if i get in I need to find a place to live also. I don't want to drive 40 mins back and forth everyday. If you don't mind me asking, where are you from? And I know the wait is killing me too!!!
  23. I have no idea. Some people said around 3 days after people take their teas. Or a week or two after. I guess it's different every year. Idk when LAHC schedule people to take their teas. I'm assuming somewhere in May?
