  1. Drink lots of water to flush your system. Don't use alcohol hand sanitizer, or take any meds with alcohol. There's a lot of things that can show up as alcohol and this test will find them if they're there. IMO this test is faulty.

    What is EEP?
  3. So I have told you all of my struggle dealing with my issues over some documentation problems. I am fighting to not have to do TPAPN because I really don't need it. I really didn't divert medications. I feel like I'm in limbo again. The first time after I was fired and now because I'm working 2 jobs and I need advice. If all else fails and I have to do TPAPN will I be able to keep both jobs? Anybody know? Also how would you recommend I notify my employer? Anybody ever fight this and win?
  4. Education and documentation. Inform the PCP
  5. She's setting herself up for a big mistake if she relies on every one else for every detail instead of looking it up herself.
  6. I am a pedi home nurse and my little patient like my hello kitty and cookie monster ot teddy bears. However I am also a neuro nurse every other weekend and we wear wine color or navy scrubs, but on the 1st or 15th. On those days I like to wear pretty sophisticated looking prints or tops with trim. I think it depends on your patient population. I have been known to ask my adult pt if they needed to "go potty" before I left the room though. /8
  7. I have learned to stand up for myself. Think back to those "i" messages learned in college. For example... "I get really frustrated when I feel as though you want to rush me through report. I am afraid I will forget something important." I have this example because I recently had to do this at my very new job. It was just one of many things this other nurse was pushing me on. I also had a witness. Another nurse that could back me up if the bully went to the manager saying I was unruly. It went pretty well.
  8. It just depends on how much you love what you're doing. I loved L&D so I felt it wasn't hard for me. Other nurses tell me that its the hardest. I like stroke but it's way harder.
  9. Sorry double post.
  10. I' hoping we can discredit him with his own words.

  12. I'll add to that, that I also lost my brother to cancer 2 years before my nephew died. And my grandmother from cancer just before my nephew died. My son died from heart defects at age 16 days and all in all I was overwhelmed. Also I got the report from the shrink today. He has twisted my words in his report telling only bits and pieces of the things I told him, making me out to be this drug seeking person. He also lied many times even contradicting himself in the report saying on pg 2 that I received counseling for my rape then on pg 4 saying I never sought therapy even though it was offered at low or no cost to me. I did receive therapy AND counseling. I hope this lawyer can help untangle this bad situation made worse by this sham of a shrink!
  13. Yes you can. However the reason I was fired was for missing meds. 2 50mcg doses of fentanyl and 2 5mg doses of ambien. I had my own script for 12.5mg ambien CR. even the shrink said he didnt think I stole the medication. A little backstory... I had never had a med or doc error until these which happened the night before the morning we left to say goodbye to my nephew who died of cancer 3 days later. He was 12 and the 2 shifts after I returned during which time I found out my Dad also was diagnosed with leukemia. It was a hard time for me. And I had exhausted all my days off. I feel these errors happened because I was mentally and physically exhausted! I was always very careful. I still am.
  14. So after talking to my lawyer, i have options. I will be having another evaluation done by their shrink and then we will fight this. He agrees that this is unfounded. The rape was nothing to do with what happened for me to get fired and without a diagnosis of substance abuse disorder the board can not order me into TPAPN. (Thats to say he hasn't diagnosed me with such as I don't know because he hasn't mailed me that info yet.). Let me be clear. I don't have a substance abuse disorder. Dr said he was recommending me to TPAPN because he feels I had a problem with ambien.
  15. I think she's fine. She's getting help. Why have that counting against her now. But then again she was diverting meds. Thats a tough question, but My first response is no. Is there someone she feels she can be accountable to that is also a nurse?
