I don't have a clue what to do with myself!!
I plan on reviewing my anatomy and physiology. Especially the topics that I had skipped over and never grasped. Good luck reviewing before Nursing School!

My GPA is completely shot. Do I have a chance of getting into any school?
Early on in my academic career due to unforeseen circumstances, I fell in the hole with a VERY VERY Low GPA 0.9! I pulled myself out by retaking those courses and doing exceptionally well and over a span of just one year, I raised my GPA to 3.2. I was also very ashamed and embarrassed and I am still embarrassed talking about it but I taught myself to get over it. My advise to you is take all the required pre-requisite courses and do well on those. Most private universities look at your science or pre-requisite GPA more than the overall GPA. Do well in your classes from now on and when you apply to nursing schools, explain to the schools that you have improved since your prior rough patch at school. State universities would be harder to get into though because of the large number of qualified applications they receive. Bottom line... if you work hard and show the schools you have improved you do have a fair chance of getting in to any school you want to! Schools care about how you progress and how well you do in the classes you are taking now. Nobody cares about if the classes were taken at a community college or a university. They do care about if all the pre-requisites are completed or not and the grades you receive in those pre-requisites.

That may have to be an option if the clicking sounds get too much in the way of my lectures. Which kind of recorder do you have and how much does it cost?

Wow! I am excited now. You must tell me how to record the lectures on OneNote and is there something you need to do like keep on a particular setting to make the audio play where I type in the note? Also how do you deal with the clicking of the keyboard sounds? I need to minimize those sounds.

How do you take NOTES in class during Nursing Scool?
I tried Evernote just in the past couple days and I did not like it. Maybe I need to play around with it a bit. OneNote can also be downloaded on all your devices and viewed on the go. I have yet to figure out how to record my audios and videos on it. I like how you mentioned that evernote can take pictures of handwritten notes and upload to your notes. I think I like that feature.

Can you please share why the laptop thing did not work for you? I am really looking forward to finally be ready to use technology to aid in my note taking. I like pen and paper but I want to try something different.

Does OneNote NOT allow you to annotate power points? I have not tried it but its making me think now! Thanks for this post and your input now so I can look into my options for directly working on annotating my PPT's.

Hmmm... I have a Lenovo ideapad. I can hear all the clicks and I tried recording using a couple different apps but the clicks are very prominent.

How do you take NOTES in class during Nursing Scool?
I think I will do just the same but try it on my laptop first. In case it does not work out I will print out the PPT and add my own hand written notes.

I also discovered OneNote when I started this thread and I am playing around with it. So far it seems promising and I am also looking forward to using it. I also like the fact that it syncs to the sky drive and you can access it from anywhere. I am still learning to use it and hope it turns out to be what I need it to be.

How do you take NOTES in class during Nursing Scool?
Not only does it sound like a good idea but you can pay attention to the lecture instead of scribbling away the entire time during lecture. Also your idea of typing out all the information after school is a great way to learn the material and jot down any questions. Thanks!

How do you take NOTES in class during Nursing Scool?
Sounds pretty neat to have all the words your teacher speaks during lecture to convert into a written format. Would make life as a student so much easier! Is this an app? I searched for it but could not find it. Have you used this before? And does it convert all types of speaking styles to actual words? I want to try this if I can find it.

How do you take NOTES in class during Nursing Scool?
I am starting Nursing School in January and I am trying to figure out how to take notes once classes start. I have a windows 8 laptop and would like to do all my note taking on the laptop. During pre-nursing I used to see students taking notes on their computers and iPads and tablets all the time. I have no idea how they do it and I have never taken notes on my computer before. My typing speed is okay... not too bad. So my question to all fellow students is exactly how do you take and organize your notes using a laptop? Is it easier to take notes on a laptop or a tablet or iPad or good 'ol pen and paper? I dont have a tablet so any advise on which kind to buy would be helpful as well! Is there an app you download to take notes or do u just type away in a word document (which I dont think I am going to like too much)? I like recording my lectures while I am taking notes. Is there a way to not record the clicking sounds of the keyboard while you type? I love my paper, pen, and notebook but sometimes during lectures it get to be too much to write and since I like to type I want to give this new method a try. Plus I want to be able to share and print my notes as well. Ideally I would like to be able to record my lecture, and type my notes while having the flexibility to draw out diagrams and insert tables within my notes. Any advise regarding which apps I should use or how I should record my lectures or take and organize my notes would be helpful!!

Which stethoscope should I buy as a Nursing student?
Thanks everyone for your input! So it soundz like the cheap steths i have should be good for now while i m in school. I just need to figure out if i can get better ear tips. I have decided that if the pain gets to be real bothersome then i may get the cheaper littmans. Or maybe once i start my clinicals if i like a certain scope then i can buy that.

Presence Health Loan Forgiveness Program
I am starting this thread because i have applied for the PHLFP program and im wondering what i have to do other than committing to a year of work per semester of help received. I would like input and information from individuals who have already graduated and are in the work field already. My biggest confusion is i know it says loan forgiveness program so does that mean i am actually going to be taking out an amount of loan while in school or does it mean my tuition is just waived? I have some other questions about the program as well. 1) Does Presence Health offer you a job right away after graduation? If not what happens if they dont hire you! 2) Does any portion of the loan have to be repaid? 3) Does the loan showup on your credit report? I plan on buying a home after graduation so if it shows up i may not qualify for as much to buy a house. 4) It sounds great but is it worth it to get the loan forgiveness? I just dont want such huge loans when i graduate. 5) Is it loans offered by presence health that are forgiven or are all my student loans forgiven like if i work for the state? Any input is helpful

Dear Cheaters
I would definitely bring it to the teachers attention. I have known a number of cheaters throughout my years and usually i dont care. BUT if you are in Nursing School and u r accountable for peoples well being you need to learn the material properly and retain it. I wouldnt want a nurse who passed by cheating to attend me. If you dont work hard while in school then you will definitely make a sucky nurse!!

Which stethoscope should I buy as a Nursing student?
So I was browsing on amazon and came across a bunch of stethoscopes between $5-$10 so i bought two different brands. I got those in the mail yesterday and i hate them! They are cheaply made but then again i understand you get what u pay for. I bought them because each had rave reviews from nursing students so i guess a lot of students are using those for nursing school. My problem with them is the moment i put them on, my ears hurt like hell. I cant leave those on for more than 10 seconds without wanting to cry. I am thinking of keeping these for backup and buying a well made stethoscope for regular use. My first question before i splurge is will the better or more expensive stethoscopes not hurt my ears? Second question is which stethoscope is worth buying since i will be a nursing student come January? Third question is should I even buy another scope or just use the ones i already bought? Do all steths hurt in the ears? And how can i keep my ears from hurting if i use the ones i now own? Please help pick a steth! Thanks in advance.
