  1. i live in nc and i think you have to have at least 1 year expirence in public health. they also require a bsn or higher.
  2. i think i would turn off the tpn. talk with the md. too much fluid???/
  3. i am scared everytime i go to work. having 9-10 patients on my surgical floor at night is really overwhelming. i think being scared helps me stay on top of things. it also helps build time management skills.
  4. i usually have 10 at night (7p-7a). I am a new nurse(may 2005) it is real hard. i love it but many times I feel overwhelmed. I am just sticking it out for the expirence. I love being a nurse, and will eventually try ICU.
  5. I was just wondering what is an average nurse to patient ratio on surgical units. I usually have 10 patients on the 7p to 7a shift. I am a new nurse (graduated in may 2005) and I struggle to get everything done and provide good nursing care. many of my patients are post-op and require more frequent assessment and need my time. I was just wondering if this is standard (1:10) on nights in other hospitals. Thanks
  6. I agree with the others. I think you should go talk with you director of nursing. Do not let them cause you to question whether you choose the right profession.
  7. sounds like just a problem with the instructor. many instructors frown on students that seem to ask intelligent questions.
