  1. :lol_hitti Some years back I was working on an elderly care unit and we had a new patient admitted. As was the standard procedure the junior doctor came to do the assessment interview with me. One of the standard questions to ask is "do you know where you are" to which we got the reply " yes I am in the f*****g zoo" " what makes you think you are in the zoo" the doctor asked (he was very junior), the reply was "because I`m surrounded by f*****g animals".

We do not advance any where, as individuals or the proffession as a whole by pandering to doctors. Nursing is a seperate, though allied proffession to medicine. We have equal footing to the doctors.

I am new to this site, I am a nurse from the UK. My name is on both the general nursing and mental health nursing parts of the nurses register here in the UK. I have been in nursing for 27 years, 22 of which I have been in mental health nursing. I have allways been a big believer in equality in all areas of life especially at work. I have allways refered to myself as a nurse, not a male nurse, my male colleagues here in the UK also refer to themselves as nurses not male nurses. Over recent years there has been a massive increase in men entering the profession. My point is that after many years of seeking equality and an equal footing with women in nursing are we not turning the clock back a number of years by having a forum specifically for nurses who happen to be men. I am an open minded sort of person and will read and consider any good solid reason as to why such a forum is a positive thing.

If you are rumbling, perhaps an endoscopy is indicated. Enjoy :chuckle
