  1. Hey guys! Just wanted to drop by and offer some encouragement. I was in your shoes this time last year, applying for the Basic program. Except we had interviews, first and last group for that I guess haha. It's a rough wait and I remember all of the feelings I had. I was frequenting an all nurses thread as well at the time (: Just let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them. I know it's probably gonna be a different timeline because no interviews, but I got the invitation to interview march 29th and my official acceptance april 18th. They actually sent out the final acceptances at 11 at night, when we least expected it! It'll be worth it, the feeling of getting that acceptance was absolutely amazing. You'll have so much fun in the program, even though it's hard. I feel like everyone would always focus so much on how hard it was when they were giving me advice and that was a little intimidating, but it's seriously fun. I've made the greatest friends and done so many awesome things so far so look forward to that! Hard work, but doable and so rewarding! Cheers to the weeks of inbox refreshing, I hope to meet some of you in the program!
  2. Whoa guys. This thread really blew up. As I understand it, OP just wanted to know about people's experiences with bodily fluids in nursing school. I didn't get the "I'm too good for this" vibe personally. It's unfortunate that so many people started attacking OP's motives and suggesting that they may not be a good nurse. I'm about to start nursing school too and I doubt anyone really loves cleaning poop, but for new students, we don't really know what it'll be like. I'm not particularly looking forward to poop/vomit and it'll be a new experience, but I know it's necessary to care for patients and I will do it for them. I feel like this was what OP was trying to get across.
  3. I have it on my hands too. I feel like its impossible to completely clear it up for me. I'm concerned about getting into clinicals and having to wash my hands all the time because I think that will make it worse. I use ultravate, a prescription ointment I got from my dermatologist. It works, but I feel like everytime one spot clears up, more pops up. Ugh. Hate eczema. ):
  4. Hey everyone, I'm 20 years old and about to start nursing school in the fall. My parents have been supporting me for my first two years of college and will throughout nursing school. I'm blessed to not have to get a job to pay for my living expenses/tuition but I'm wondering what will happen when I apply for jobs as an RN. I have medical experience from volunteering at a hospital a lot in high school and doing two internships/job shadows with doctors but I have no real job experience. Will future employers look down on me for this? I feel so clueless when it comes to having a job.
  5. A lot of people recommend the littmann classic II se.
  6. I have really high arches and I'm trying to find a good shoe to start nursing school. It's really important for me to have great arch support or I get sore muscles. How is the arch support in danskos? Anyone have any suggestions for me?
  7. Yah if I don't get an information packet in a reasonable period of time, I'll just show up at the office with a bunch of signed copies of the email and give them to everyone I see like some sort of maniac.
  8. Ok great. I'm so paranoid about doing anything wrong! I still can't even believe this is happening right now!
  9. I can do afternoon. I have class in the morning but after that I'm free. So are we supposed to sign the email and send it to them? Or is there something else to sign that I'm missing?
  10. I'd totally be up for friday afternoon or evening!! I hate coffee but I don't even care haha
  11. I'm in guys!! I totally didn't expect it to come at 10:30 at night!! Can't wait to meet you all! Ahhhh
  12. Nemours looks like a really cool new hospital. I don't really enjoy working with kids but it would be fun to do peds clinicals in a place like that.
  13. I heard that they want to eventually transfer to the med school from a CON employee. They will when they have the funds. It'll be expensive to move out there apparently.
  14. Whoa that's so awesome! I'm glad you thought I showed my personality! I thought you seemed super sweet. I actually liked you the best out of our group. (:
