Sorry! I didn't see this until now. While GPA will play a large part, it isn't the ONLY thing that's considered, from what I understand. I'm in the accelerated program, so it may be a little different. I, too, didn't have a great cumulative GPA. I didn't have any medical experience either. I think the Insight Resume portion may have scored me some points because it showed that I was dedicated and willing to work hard despite my past scholarly mistakes. They don't hold interviews for applicants. I would say that they consider work and/or volunteer experience. Before I applied, in had no experience in the medical field, but I noted anything/everything that I thought of that could be considered as volunteer work. That included wrapping presents for the less fortunate during the holidays for a church group, and volunteering to take pictures for a Rotary Club event. I have some advice if you get accepted into Linfield's accelerated program and decide to go. If you go, you'll be in the third cohort to be in the 15 month program. Before then, it was 18 months. They're still working out the kinks. Things are still a little frantic at times, but just roll with the punches and don't get caught up in other peoples' negativity. Your prerequisite course GPA carries the most weight compared toy our overall, which will also be considered. I don't remember them going by a point system, but I could be wrong. I'm not sure about the number of applicants for the accelerated program specifically, but overall Linfield received around 800 applications, and the accelerated cohort had 56 spots.

Hey all! I'm a Linfield ABSN student that started in the spring this year. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the school and/or the application process. I also took some prerequisites at Chemeketa, and I applied to the 3 year program at OHSU and the ABSN program at Linfield, and decided to go to Linfield! What type of discretionary points are you referring to? Are you applying as a first or second degree student? While grades are very important in getting into the program, I think the content of the insight resume and letters of reference are equally important. Congratulations rylin86! I will be commuting everyday. I wish I could take Amtrak all week, but unfortunately, it doesn't work with my schedule. No worries though; I'm used to commuting an hour each way from a summer job I had a couple years ago. I'm wondering how many other people from here are for sure going to Linfield. We should meet up before orientation and get acquainted!

Congratulations! Where will you be coming in from? I'm not completely familiar with the Portland area just yet. I'll be commuting from Salem.

To answer our question as to what I did in waiting for my acceptance letter, I did absolutely nothing. My advice to you would be to be as productive as possible. I received my acceptance letter in late March, and am now going just as, if not more, crazy as I was in waiting around. Right now, I feel like I'm running around trying to schedule things and complete requirements before the start of the semester (June). Definitely try to figure out what needs to be done for each school. Make appointments for immunizations, blood tests and BLS as needed. Get out every once in awhile, meet some friends for a drink, get some exercise. I hope this helps, and good luck!!!
