  1. Congratulations!! I have been considering going through EC to obtain my RN, but have been apprehensive about it because I have read that students have to go to NY to do the clinicals. Is this true? How does the clinical part work??
  2. I am in the process of making a care plan for a neonate who suffered respiratory distress after birth for at least the first 1 hours of life (I left clinical after this first hour and was unable to observe whether he began breathing normal..). He was 40 weeks gestation. The mother was induced. He delivered ROL with the cord around the neck. He was experiencing signs such as nostril flaring, grunting and chest retraction. He also had a temp of 100.1F. I am searching for a Nursing diagnosis and I have a few in mind that I may be able to apply to this patient, but would like a few opinions as to what I should use. The following are ones that I have considered using as a nursing diagnosis: - Ineffective Breathing Pattern - Ineffective peripheral tissue perfusion Any suggestions?
  3. Don't let your age discourage you for one. I am currently enrolled in nursing school and I have 2 fellow students that are 45 and 46, and another who just turned 50!! And i would recommend waiting until the fall. These medical terms are hard enough to pronounce in English, so I can only imagine them in French!! Good luck!
  4. Thank you all for you input. My college did not require us to have this NANDA- 2012-2014 book I keep reading about, but I will probably be investing in one very soon. They required us to have a Nursing Care Plan book that I do not find is much help to me. Esme12-- I am a second semester student and do understand the nursing process. I did end up completely throwing out this ND and came up with one that made much more sense and could definetely be applied to my patients situation. GrnTea-- FYI, I actually found "disturbed sensory perception" on the nanda website... so it wasnt something I pulled out of no where. Thank you
  5. Thank you so much for these studying tips! I really like your idea of commiting every Sunday to studying notes.. I am definetely going to try this!
  6. Thank you for your help!
  7. I am assigned do make a Care Plan for a long term facility patient who has a history of Diabetes Mellitus type 2. He is self-sufficient... does all ADL's on his own, walk with a walker d/t his vision is not so great. He has myopia and has recently been diagnosed with nuclear sclerosis cataract. This is the nursing diagnosis I have come up with: Disturbedsensory perception related to impaired visual reception as evidencedby decreased vision with the need to use corrective lenses to see. I am just very unsure if this "works" or not. The patient does have glasses, but he claims that he does not wear them all the time. I think the route I am wanting to go has to do with safety. I have my patient goal as being Maintainsafe optimal functioning within limits of visual impairment Any suggestions/comments would be very appreciated!
  8. I am in my first pharmacology class and am seriously struggling trying to remember all of these prototypes. If anyone has any helpful tips as to an effective way of studying these drugs and knowing them, please let me know!
