Here is the latest timeline update, posted on their facebook page this morning: We are excited to announce that the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs has approved our application to transition to the doctoral degree! The application for that program of study has opened and will remain open until September 30th. Interviews will take place in late Fall with the cohort beginning in May 2021. Thankfully, a small group each day ? I heard (from current students) they are usually very quick to get acceptance letters out. Typically the week after all interviews are done. Hopefully they will do the same this year!! good luck!!

Last day is the 6th! On my day there were 11 people.

In my group we all just talked to each other and the two freshman SRNAs in there. You’ll have an hour lunch break too. They encourage you to tour around if you want. The big room we wait in is one of the lecture rooms. You’re in the same building as the library and big lecture halls for neuroscience, physiology, cell biology... etc. you could bring a book, but it was a great opportunity to network, chat, and really ask the SRNAs what life is like in the school.

@NCMurse1313 I have had a few coworkers hear back through an email that they did not receive an interview. I believe you should hear back either way - doesn’t hurt to give them a call! @rbjones1 Started having dreams (nightmares?) about the interview this week - ready to just get there and get through it! ? good luck with your prepping!!

Hello! Starting a thread for those applying this year to Western Carolina University DNP Nurse Anesthesia program, class of 2023. I'll be submitting my application soon. I hope I spark some attention during their early application review on May 31st. Official deadline is September 15th.

Hey! As far as I know, we get two interviews with two different panels, but onthe same day. You’ll have time slots assigned to be with each panel on the day they give you. All the people I know that interviewed said they waited in a room with a bunch of the other applicants for a period of time. They usually have some of the current SRNAs hangout with you and are available to answer questions and be supportive. Kimberly

Just thought I would drop a line too!...sent my application in late last night. If anyone hears anything, would you post an update? Anxious, but very excited over here! Ps. I clarified, they only need official transcripts to be sent in after you accept your spot in the program. Uploaded ones are good to get you to the interview!

@Jameca32 - I am envious of you and your experience in the CVICU! :) That is where I am striving to get! (I've been on a Cardiac Stepdown for almost a year and interview for the CCU today! creepin' my way towards the CVICU!). I hope someone can shed some insight here regarding my questions. I am absolutely excited over the Scripps' new cardiovacular institute opening this year! Its massive and I believe will be one of the largest cardiac centers in the southwest region! I would encourage you too to keep an eye on their facility looking for CVICU nurses! :)

I know this is a late response, but in the event someone else comes behind and reads up on the topic, I wanted to throw in my two cents! I currently work night shift on a cardiac stepdown/PCU... We have been short staffed for many months and I have up to 7 patients on nights of terror. I average 5-6 on night shift. The average load will include one post pacemaker and/or one post cath (with TR band still in place), one or two on cardizem gtt, and one on heparing gtt, the rest may be overflow that needed a stepdown unit. But these are always intense floors.. I hope after my time here, I can go almost anywhere with the all the time management practice I've had!

Can I just say how excited I am for the new Scripps' Prebys Cardiovascular Institute opening this March? Has anyone heard rumors about how nurse staffing will be covered at this new facility? I want in!

I am glad I read this - I am reminded I am not alone in these thoughts! I agree a major life crisis might warrant a need to use the community as a support system. However, since I worked fulltime as a NA/PCT through school.. slaving away on third shift every thursday, friday, and saturday night... it is a slap in the face to have people asking me for money to help them through school. Any life event that can be planned, why not... make a plan?!?

I have been looking through many posts on here regarding the San Diego job market, however, many are outdated and I am curious if anyone can offer some new insight for me. I was recently in San Diego and worked 14 months as a new grad ADN at a subacute psychiatric rehab IMD (I know the struggles out there are real!). I moved out of California last summer, the same time I finished my BSN. I have since been working FT on a Cardiac Stepdown/Progressive care unit (focused on postcardiac surgeries/PCIs, such as CABGs, Pacemakers, Cardiac caths, etc) in South Carolina. I also have been continuing to work part-time in a psychiatric intensive management unit. I want to move back to San Diego... lets be frank, I miss the weather and beauty :) I want to know how hard it will be to get hired into Scripps, Sharp, UCSD, etc. onto a similar cardiac floor. I would like to move after I achieve one year of cardiac experience this May. I have my BSN and then will have over 2 years of nursing experience. Any thoughts, suggestions, etc. to make myself most marketable to be hired in one of San Diego's major hospitals? Also... If you work at one of these hospitals, what is your biweekly/monthly take home pay? (Base pay/differentials?)
