Drink or Shake during work
I am looking for a healthy drink or shake to use during those days that never end. No time for breakfast and lunch never happened. Have small blender at work, but can't find anything that sustains me. Any input is much appreciated .

Student loans are haunting me.
there was an article last week that student loan dept turned a profit last year. spent all year battling prostate cancer and trying to work. took tax return. Had surgery that went bad. Currenting under cancer radiation tx and they went after payroll deduction to collect. I could appeal but that takes 2-3 months. they are unreal.

preg minor
big debate in ER today. 16 y/o preg in for general flu-like sx. Is she emancipated because she is preg or do you still need mother consent? I called mother anyway to cover myself but brought up debate. thanks.

NO LUNCH
i could care less about punching "no lunch". have never done it, it's the principle. work 12 hour shift with no lunch. watch charge nurse go home after 8 hour shift or pt complain about their lunch. don't want to cause fuss and get bad name but this is getting out on control. brought it up last year in 3 unit meeting with two seperate meeting with unit manager. any thoughts. worried about getting bad name.

NO LUNCH
Dealing with "no lunch" alot. Unit manager says it's an ER, sorry. There is no system to allow for lunch like flex or float RN. Unit manager just blows us off. I know some days are too busy, but between call backs and STD/culture call backs never get lunch. Starting to **** everyone off our "lunch" is last on list of "things to do". any ideas or thoughts?
- now what.

now what.
so the powers upstairs have now put out a policy stating we are no longer allowed to have any drinks at the nurses station. They claim it is a "work pt area". We have to keep all drinks in the break room. Like 12 hours are enough, now no drinks. How are pt's allowed to eat and drink in their room then? just a thought.

better way to handle the BS
What is the best to handle the BS of ER and the repeat offenders. Is there a new book? I don't want "who moved my cheese" crap. Do you sing barnie songs in your head? do you go to a happy place in your head? I want to tell them where they can go with there complaining and narc rx begging/work notes. It seems the more i try to ignore the crap the more insane it gets. Come to ER for hair loss today and complained about waiting on sunday night, but management kisses their butt which makes it worse. It just seems to be getting out of control. I have seen alot of senior nurses burnout of this and trying to prevent it. Any help would be welcomed. Willing to try anything.

Having a hard time lately
Having a hard time lately in ER with pt's and their attitudes. Seem lately pt's have gotten louder and more stupid with confidence. They abuse the system and ***** at the same time. Why do i have to wait on a Friday night for knee pain x months. Charge nurses and management cater to them and kiss their ass, so afraid of the almighty bad survey. Finding it hard to not go "off" when they start ********. Thought about going to different dept. Love the ER but don't want to lose job. Any thoughts or ways you guys deal with this.

call backs
call backs for us is when you call the pt to see how there visit went and so on. I am afraid of that person not wanting anyone at that home phone knowing they went to ER. what if it's a message machine and there is caller ID showing ER. Just don't like it.
