Of course, like I expected, we went head first into nursing! Our first test is this week and we only started less than a week ago. So far we have covered communication, collaboration, medical/surgical asepsis, basic infection control, among some other things. I am so lost on how to study all of this. Before coming in I had no medical background. I have tried to understand lingo/jargon but I feel completely discouraged. I need help on the best way I can study. Anything to help get me through these next two years!! (I also have three YOUNG children and a supportive husband). (((:

I graduated high school and started college for two weeks before I became sick and had to withdraw. 6 years later I decided I wanted Togo back. I had to get all of my pre req's and a few basics and was accepted into nursing program. I just had orientation and my first class is next week. I also have three very young children (all under 4). I passed everything (before nursing school) with A's and I hope to do well in nursing also! Good luck!! You can do it!

Hey! I was accepted into the fall nursing program! Yay! We are requires to bring our immunization records. I had all of my vaccines as a child except the booster at 15yrs old. Will that still be a requirement or the fact that I had the actual vaccine be ok? My husband and I chose to do delayed vaccination with our children (6mo, 2yr, 4yr) bc of previous reactions; therefore, they haven't received any vaccines yet. I know that there is a "shedding period" three weeks after getting the vaccine. I don't want my kids to become sick because I am required to receive the vaccine. Thanks!

I have not been through nursing school yet but just found out I was accepted into this fall semester. I am married and have three kids! I was originally a pharm tech but quit to stay home with my oldest (4) when she was born. I am also nervous ab the time between school and studying. I want to be there 100% for my children but I know that I will be providing them with so much more once school is behind me. I have friends who went through nursing with children and I never heard them complain. Good luck to you, momma!! We can do this(:

I just found out this past week that I was accepted into out ADN program starting this upcoming fall. I just started last fall for my general courses. I didnt think I would be accepted since it is so competitive and I still lack a few general courses, but God had a plan(: I have three small children (4&under). Thankfully I have a wonderful husband willing to sacrifice so that I can pursue my dream! I register this week, and will be fitted for my uniform. Before august I have to have a tb skin test, drug test, and CPR certification. I don't know much more and probably won't until I register. I am very excited AND nervous! Yay for c/o 2015!!!

I will be graduating soon from LPN in MS. I wanted to hear of everyone's opinions on where they enjoyed working most as an LPN? Also what is expected pay in those areas? thanks!

Hey, I don't work at either hospital but my in laws AND most friends do. I believe the base pay for an ADN is 18-20. So you may get an idea from that. I know East Mississippi State Hospital starts at 18 and you get quick raises. I know a guy who has worked there for one year and is at 22 already. Hope this helps some!

Thanks! I Applied at MCC in Meridian and ECC in Decatur. I am currently in the AP 1&2 fast track course and just finished AP 1 this week with am A. But bc of the "competitiveness" of getting into the ADN program I have already completed eng comp 1, human growth, and psychology..I'm just not sure that's competitive enough! Haha. I'm not really sure if it's the teas test? It is about 15 math questions involving adding, sub, mult, and dividing fractions..then turning it into the decimal and rounding it tithe nearest tenth? You have to answer them in 15min! They add your grades with this test and pick the too people..so I'm stressing about being accepted! I'm happy with LPN or RN though.

Hey all! I am currently taking basics in college and applying for fall semester as an LPN and RN. I am happy to continue into whichever I get accepted into first. If I get accepted into both, I will go with RN. Here are a few questions I have.. 1. Are there any websites etc to brush up on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions, and turning them into decimals rounded to the nearest tenth? I am required to take this test to apply for RN program. I haven't had any type of math in 7 years and cannot remember! (Don't use it, you lose it) 2. What should I expect from the RN or LPN program as far as days spent in school/clinicals? I have three small children, and will need to find childcare. The school has not been so helpful in answering some of these questions. 3. How much should I expect on salary for an RN/LPN in Meridian MS and surrounding areas? TBH, I have my Pharmacy Tech certification and once I had my first child, I quit to be a SAHM. I became certified as a Labor Coach and did that every once in a while. Now that I have 3 children (ages 4 & under), I NEED to get out of the house! My husband can provide for our household whether I work or not, but nursing was always something I wanted to do. I just can't figure out the answers to a lot of my questions(: Thanks for any advice!
