  1. I am a first year nursing student and in the out of school season I would like to supplement my education on topics not always covered in school. If anyone could recommend specific books that they found particularly informative I would greatly appreciate it. Books on : Therapeutic communication, evidence based practice, The nursing process (ADPIE), or care planning. Thank You!
  2. Has anyone ever used "Nursing, The Ultimate Study Guide" by Nadia Singh?
  3. Thank you for your advice! I think that this site should be a wonderful resource for everyone to pool what they do ( to study ). I know hearing different methods that people have to learn is quite fascinating! I have a senior student who makes a collage of terms and definitions on the wall in her dining room to learn! Very original!!
  4. I love helping people and have been in some type of customer service field for the past 23 years. When I was 39 I had to have a cholecystectomy. I woke up to having the recovery room nurse very rudely yelling while walking around my bed. Cough, breathe deep, cough...I asked her what happened or why I had to have the surgery. I was told I had the three F's. Female, fat, and forty. I thought how rude I am not 40, I am 39. LOL. So I thought if this rude witch can be a nurse, so can I. At least I would be way nicer.
  5. I am a BSN nursing student in my sophomore year and am somewhat of a research hog. I like to read or have on hand additional references that can help my understanding of the material I may be covering. I have purchased so far Davis Q and A for the NCLEX-RN, Mary Ann Hogan's Nursing Fundamentals Reviews and Rationales, MaryAnn Hogan's Maternal-Newborn Nursing Reviews and Rationales, in addition to the books recommended for the semester. I have been looking at a book called Nursing: The Ultimate Study Guide by Nadia Singh. Has anyone ever heard of this book or used it? I haven't been able to hold one in my hand to go through it, but the material outlined seems thorough...any advice would be appreciated. Also, any recommendations for reference material would be great.
  6. I actually have alot of pre-reqs done for it and would only have to take the nursing portions as long as they accept my transfers. Lol,but you never know. Right?
  7. I am a 42 yr old I will have my pre-reqs done this semester and will be applying to the ADN and BSN programs. Do hospice agencies prefer BSN over ADN? Currently I am a CNA in a dementia unit and have found the hospice nurses I have come in contact with inspiring. Advice will be greatly appreciated. I live in North east Arkansas. I posted this question on the Arkansas site as well but have not had a response.
  8. I would like to become a Hospice nurse. Would getting my ADN be a disadvantage for this specialty? I live in Jonesboro and am 42 yr old. I thought about eventually completing a BSN but I am just out of a bad marriage and would like to get a stable job as quick as possible. Opinions are appreciated!
