  1. Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I signed up today on AdultNPprep.com -- as they have actually just recently added specific questions geared towards the Adult-gero NP exam with ANCC. The price was good (marked down) and then you can add SAVE-ABPX for an additional 10% off. I did the practice exam for free and now have 5 tests of 100 questions each to do. I hope this helps! Let me know if anyone else has tried these test questions and if you found them helpful. Good luck to all and thanks again :)
  2. Hi everyone at allnurses.com! I am going to be sitting for the ANCC Adult-Gero certification exam in approximately two weeks (FYI, I took the AANP and didn't fair so well). Nevertheless, just looking for some suggestions for prepping for this exam. I have the Fitzgerald CD's and her book, that's it. Anyone out there took this new exam yet (it began Jan.28)? I hear it has multiple choice, choose all that apply, point and click, etc. HELP!!!!
  3. Carole, CONGRATS!!! That is so awesome and I am truly happy for you :) I'm also curious to see what my final scores were, I'm not sure if I'd be happier to see if I just barely didn't pass or if I lacked in everything, no matter---I still want to know. It's interesting that you are taking both exams, wish I would have thought about it at the time. Nevertheless, I would love to do some online studying with you and any study guides would be helpful. I'm very committed to passing this time (to myself and to my employer that's waiting for me to pass--you know, no pressure or anything....lol!!) I will email you today and we can talk about it some more. For now, CELEBRATE :))))))
  4. Toasterboy85, Thank you so much for the additional information! I am going to check this link out and see if there is an online review course that I could take. I appreciate it! mmk130
  5. Thank you very much for your suggestions and concern! I have calmed down from my original post and am looking at this as a learning experience and looking at ways to improve my study. I wish there was a live review somewhere in February but I can't seem to find a single one, so I don't believe that will be in the cards for me. I am planning on focusing on my weak areas, which after taking the AANP, I know where I struggled. Would you say ANCC's level of ethic/policy questions were hard to answer if the Fitzgerald section on the topic is studied? Thanks for any help/coaching!!
  6. Hi! Thanks for your kind response. I am now over the shock and am working out my next study plan. There was absolutely no professional rule/policy questions on the AANP. Of course I'm not sure where my overall lack of knowledge was in but I would suggest making sure you understand medications for the elderly. Believe it or not, this applies to many questions--whether it be a first line antibiotic therapy, a safety question, most appropriate, Alzeimer's and Parkinson's. I may have concentrated too much of my study in the adult portion and not enough of the Gero. Good luck, stay calm, and let me know!
  7. I just took the AANP Adult-Gero NP exam yesterday and did NOT PASS. I'm very much devastated at this point. Not sure where I went wrong, nevertheless, I have now registered to take the ANCC exam and will be awaiting my authorization to test (unsure as to how long that will take to get, AANP processed and I had ATT all within a month). Of course, I have a job lined up and this was a major set back, which is requiring them to graciously revise their plans, leaving me to take a hard look at my study plan and revamp it; I averaged about 5-8 hours/day for the 2 weeks just prior to the exam, before that I was slowly breaking the sections down and took a review course and completed the Fitzgerald study guide and CDs. I looked today for a live review course and unfortunately, the first available are mid-March (Fitzgerald, APEA, and Barkley) for the AGNPs. I assume the delay in study material and review courses are because the two certifying bodies just began offering the exam in January. I wish you the best, which exam will you be taking and maybe I can give you a little direction if it is the AANP??
