  3. i dont agree with common idea that LPN's stay in nursing homes and are just a notch above the CNAs, LPn is truly a state of mind, it is what you make it. Im an LPN and sure theres certain tasks that i wish i could DELEGATE instaed of DO but i work in the ER i start iv's, hang lines, i work as part of the trauma team in a pediatric hospital(cpr, intubating, emergency decisions...). so no, your not stuck to passing endless meds, and charting i'&o's. do what you want, it all comes down to thinking skills and motivation. im in school now for my RN because the money situation looks better on that side, but i dont think im any less competent as an LPN. yes i run circles around them. :loveya:
  4. hi there, do we really NEED all the books that excelsior requires for each of the nursing concepts? that's a ton of books and a ton of reading thats required. did any of you actually purchase or use the study guides that are "required"? and did you read the 500 chapters that are required for each content guide? let me know what your stategies were, it would be of much help!! thanks, peedy
  5. i used amazon.com for all my books during LPN school and i got some books for as low as $20 at times. usually on all those book searches, amazon shows up as one of the cheapest sites. good luck!
  6. For Excelsior....do They Tell You What Chapters To Read Or Do They Just Give You The Outline And Leave It Up 2 You To Read As Much Or As Little As You Think Is Necessary? Do They Explain Things Fairly Well Once You Receive Your First Packet After Mailing In Your Application?and For The Cpne Did Any Of You Pay Extra To Use The Study Workshop And Did You Think It Was Significantly Beneficial Or Did You Just Use The Study Guide Thats Provided?what Do Yourecommend? Thanks To All Ahead Of Time, Your Answers And Advice Have Been Extremely Helpful In My Decisions So Far. Thanks Again And Sorry I've Been A Litlle On The Annoying Side With All My Questions. Thanx And Love 2 All!! :w00t:
  7. Thanx 2 All That Replied Your Input Has Been Great...one Last Thing, When They Send You Ur Packet After Applying, Do They Give You Information On How The Whole Thing Works? Do They Tell You Wht Chapters Read And Such? Or They Just Tell You The General Areas Of Study And Leave It Up To You To Read As Much Or As Little As You Think Is Necessary? And Did Any Of You Use The Study Workshop For The Cpne Or Did You Just Use The Study Guide, Thanks Ahead Of Time For All Your Help And Advice. Lots O Love!!
  8. hey its me agian with more questions about excelsior. once you become an official student is that it? are you on your own for the rest of the program or do you have to keep calling them every time you have a question? and all the study guides are mailed to you right? do you actually need the computer for anything? b/c everytime i go to the excelsior website and try to log in it always give me that "page not found" error. i already contacted excelsior about it but they were'nt much help and its not my computer, itried it from 3 different ones. is this happening to anyone else or just me? ok sorry i played 20 questions today thnx 2 all!
  9. you finished pretty quick, why would ppl put u down for that? thats exactly what i want to do. i have all my pre-reqs done already, if all i have to do is nuring concepts 1-7 and worked at a steady constant pace what is the SHORTEST amount of time you think it would take?
  10. thankx so much. i'll check it out
  11. :sofahider hey i was just wondering if anybody knows any specifics on excelsior. me and my boyfriend were both thinking about starting the program to get our RN. i was just curious if anybody has already started/completed the program. it sounds pretty legit. i just want to make sure it'll be worth it. if u have any advice: positive or negative let me know. im open to all. thanks a bunch :redpinkhe
