  1. Hey nurses, I had a quick question about the WGU program: Is anyone able to provide a list of books that are used for the program? I'm trying to buy some of the books prior to class (use some 2022 CE funds before they expire), I know the ebook is included in the courses but I adamantly hate ebooks. I tried getting a list of books from the school but they weren't able to help me out until further in my registration process. This is a list of some of the courses I'll be taking: D236 Pathophysiology Applied Healthcare Statistics Interprofessional Communication and Leadership in Healthcare Intrapersonal Leadership and Professional Growth Scholarship in Nursing Practice Information Technology in Nursing Practice Organizational Systems and Healthcare Transformation Comprehensive Health Assessment Healthcare Policy and Economics Global and Population Health Emerging Professional Practice Thanks in advance!
  2. So exactly how long have those nursing students been working on their care plans?
  3. "You know Jim, we could make some extra cash this fall opening a haunted house through this extra room"
  4. It's not worth it Jim, let's head to the physicians break room. That actually gets some use.
  5. They say this is the year they finally budget for a break nurse. I'll believe it when I see it.
  6. Of course this is standard practice before surgery! Now just don't leave your neck too exposed.
  7. I understand wanting to make sure people aren't breaking HIPPA but these microphones are a bit ridiculous.
  8. I wanted to be sure you could wash that hospital smell off right when you walked in the door.
  9. Today must be Dr. Miller's first day back from paternity leave.
  10. It's not every day you see a patient run IN to a psych ward.

Thanks RN403! Yeah I was planning on paying close attention to the drugs that I come across but I wanted to see what to focus on prior to my first clinical. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll check out that app MurseH, thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm in my third quarter and I'll be starting my hospital clinicals next week! I was wondering what the top 10-20 drugs I should make sure I'm the most familiar with prior to the clinical. Thank you in advance!
  13. Thanks for all the help! I haven't asked my instructors their suggestions yet but we're on break now and I was going to in person when we get back. Some of the resources we have through the program are a bit all over the place on the material so I was trying to find something more concise (preferably online).
  14. I'm probably a glutton for punishment (I am in nursing school so that's definitely true) but I was wondering what would be helpful to get a jump on studying for the NCLEX while in nursing school. I just finished the first quarter so although I know 150% more than I did before starting the program, I'm certainly far from having the full knowledge to take the test. Any assistance would be helpful! On a side-note, I do plan on purchasing the Saunder's review book (6th edition I believe) so I will have that as another resource. Thanks in advance!
  15. I'm in the program as well @jdcline03! I haven't heard anything beyond the offer and then the confirmation that they received my acceptance. I've been considering emailing the nursing admissions coordinator to find out what our next step is but didn't want to bug them if they're still sorting things out...
