i HATE my job. Does anyone else feel the same?
I completely understand you. I have always worked in outpatient care, decided to go into nursing, now in my last semester and thinking I made a big mistake. I know I will never want to stay at the bedside, will do my bare minimum to get experience then run. I absolutely hate it. As previously mentioned, I have had a patient ask me to hand her her water two inches away from her, wipe her face, yet she can do fine eating and stuffing herself all without any help. I have no compassion for theses ppl, its just not in me. Maybe because I am not used to it, but I am outraged and shocked at the abuse nurses take! Since when is this ok? I have never seen this type of abuse in any other job field! Mangement does not stick up at all, even if you get physically HIT/KICKED, and people have come to think hospitals are hotels. This just sickens me, doesnt matter who you are/how sick you are, you cannot go around thinking you can treat others this way without some type of consiciences. Nurses are a big group, we need to band together and demand respect for ourselves. Patients do not act this way around doctors, I almost always see a completely 180 when the doctor comes in...

What kind of non-clinical jobs RN new grads are getting?
I am excately like you I currently work at the hospital as a student nurse, graduating this spring and I know I do not want to work at the bedside. Everything is rush rush rush I cant talk or teach which I before..I also believe healthcare is expanding and outpatient clinics are the wave of the future so you are in a good place...

what did I get myself into.
You will not kill a patient if you do not know how to make a bed or if you bathe them "wrong". You will however, cause great harm if you give them the wrong drug dosage/route. So in my opinion, you have a heads up above many of your classmates.

Nursing student questioning career
Thanks for everyones advice..I guess I will finish simply because I am so close...I do like most of the patients and health/science as well as teaching which I seem to enjoy most of all ( I actually like doing discharges during clinicals). It is good to hear from some happy nurses, most of the ones I have come across in person/online have been so unhappy and advise me to "get out!!". Perhaps I will pursue a career in health care management or NP later on down the road..

Nursing student questioning career
I am currently finishing up my last semester for my RN license and I do not know what I was thinking when I entered the profession. I absolutely hate nursing. I have met way too many burnt out, miserable nurses and I know that is not what I want to do with my life. I work currently in a hospital per diem and I see how the system abuses and uses its workers. I am a straight A student and have a great GPA. My question is should I stay and finish this last semester or just quit and get out entirely. I would hate to have all my sweat and tears go for nothing yet I know nursing is something I do not ever want to do...I currently also hold an A.S in Business Administration. Any advice? Thanks in advance
