  1. I completely understand what you are going through. I am starting nursing school this month, at age 29. I feel conflicted because I want a family, but I won't be able to start until nursing school is over in 2 years... then I'll be dealing with starting a new job. I don't know about you, but 6 weeks is NOT enough maternity leave for me. In my current profession it would be easy to take more time off, but as a new nurse it probably won't be an option. I guess there really never is a perfect time to start a family, it just happens when it happens, but I'm a planner so it's killing me. The only advice I have is to follow your gut. Give it some help by doing some shadowing or volunteering to make sure this is the right field for you. I plan to go public health or research (which I currently work in, so I hope to have an in) to battle the hours/holiday issue, then probably on to NP school. Good luck!
  2. Thanks sewnew! I would definitely take the light rail/metro if I had a stop near me, but I'm traveling from Annapolis so that probably won't work out, but I appreciate the reply none the less! :0)
  3. Hi all! I realize this thread is old, but I'm curious if any past students are willing to give up any parking secrets you may know of. I don't mind walking a little ways (the garage they offer seems to be a good distance from campus anyway), but I would prefer not to pay to park. Some days I will only be there for one class and $5 each day adds up. Do you know of any streets near by that aren't metered or residential? Thanks in advance!!!
  4. Weekday happy hour would work great for me, I'm on campus for work usually until 4 or 4:30. Camden pub and alewife are close to campus. The pub is much closer, I go there a lot but I'll warn you, it's a little bit of a dive bar.
  5. Yes, I have. They pretty much don't send anything in the mail, it's all on simsweb.
  6. Classes haven't even begun and we got an email about the first test.... ::gulp::
  7. I'm currently registered for the 21 month program, but am seriously considering doing the 16 month. For the first semester it's only one extra class, and I know I can drop back later if I need to, but I really want to do well this time around. I don't know what to do! NURS 507 doesn't have a text listed yet either. Try half.com for books too, I've been finding some cheaper there (even with shipping). Intimidating and exciting at the same time!! I have met with two first semester students to buy books, they were both so friendly and helpful! They said not to be intimidated or stressed over the summer reading, they skimmed and did just fine. Of course I'll read it anyway, but it makes me feel better knowing that...
  8. I did! I'm in group B for the NURS 505 lab. Did you fill out the 'Approval to Register' form? You have to do that before you can register online, and beware the save button doesn't work if you have a mac. I had to save as PDF and email to registration.
  9. Nursekdw, I have been looking everywhere and I can't find the post again to save my life. It was an old post and the person broke down costs for first semester. With the increase in tuition, I'm figuring about $9,000-10,000 per semester.
  10. Did everyone get their letters already?? This is torture...!
  11. I have found this information elsewhere, but I can't delete this post now... sorry.
  12. Hi all! I am newly accepted to the University of Maryland, Baltimore Clinical Nurse Leader Program and I am wondering if any current students might be interested in sharing their approximate tuition costs per semester. I've looked at the breakdown of expenses, but it's kind of confusing. Thanks in advance!
  13. Does anyone know if BCCC's Mat 107 Modern Elementary Statistics course satisfies the pre-req requirement? I might need to take stats this summer and I want to sign up asap to ensure a spot, I can go to BCCC for free so I was just wondering if anyone else took this course and it counted? If not, can anyone local recommend a stats course? Thanks!
  14. Sheww.... yikes that was so scary! Yes, I am finishing up nutrition this semester. I called admissions and received a call back at 6 pm (they close at 5, I feel bad they worked late on a Friday!). They said they haven't changed their minds about us, the statuses are now fixed and we will officially hear from them next week. It still says I'm in, thank goodness!
  15. Eeek! My status changed back to committee ready... what happened??
