Online RN to BSN Programs Legitimacy - Help Needed
This is great only you cannot hold a Bachelors degree or higher for this program (that's what the website says) and the OP and myself already have Bachelor degrees :/ But this is great info for people who are looking into these type of programs

Online RN to BSN Programs Legitimacy - Help Needed
I'm in the same situation as you. I'm currently in an ADN program and have a previous Bachelors in Biology and am eventually looking into NP school. The problem with University of Arlington Texas is that I do not see a pathophysiology class in their curriculum and I know that plenty of NP schools require this. You might want to check the NP schools you're interested in just to be sure.

Online RN to BSN Programs Legitimacy - Help Needed
Just looked at their website and you need to be a resident of specific states to be considered for their program :/ California is not one of them.

Santa Ana, Palomar College, Rio Hondo ADN Spring 2014
If I were you, I would take it in the Spring. If I could, that's what I would've done but I wasn't done with my pre-reqs so I couldn't apply until Summer. Plus, who wants to be stressed in Summer? I think Spring is cake compared to Summer. The only benefit is you'll be use to the intensity and will be ready for the Fall.

In my class, no one failed for ADN 151. It is very intense though. I think people start failing later on. A girl I knew from last semester didn't make it this semester :/ I'm in my first real semester of Med Surg which is technically the second semester. The first semester is just a warm up (pre-nursing) but it's intense during the summer because of the short time frame. Does that make sense? Rio Hondo does it differently than other schools but I like it because slowly transitions you.

Actually disregard this comment. I would go to whichever school finished first. Would you be done sooner at PCC @heyrenee?- Santa Ana, Palomar College, Rio Hondo ADN Spring 2014
Agreed. If NCLEX pass rates are similar, I would go to whichever school is closest. Instead of being in traffic, you could use the time to study :)- Santa Ana, Palomar College, Rio Hondo ADN Spring 2014

My stats were just ok. Science GPA was 3.7 but overall was low 2.7 (wasn't focused while getting my Bachelors). I did have health care experience, a year of Spanish in college and as already mentioned a Bachelors degree. I forget what else they give you points for. Rio has what is called a provisional list (sort of like a wait list). I got denied overall and was moved up to provisional and then finally in the program. It has been great so far. We have clinicals at Kaiser Baldwin Park, Kaiser Downey, PIH, Arcadia Methodist, Beverly, Whittier, Queen of the Valley, and White Memorial. Good luck!!- Santa Ana, Palomar College, Rio Hondo ADN Spring 2014
To everyone who applied to Rio Hondo... If you do not initially get in, don't lose hope! I was not accepted initially but as people denied their spot, I was given a spot last minute. I had to take my TEAS and only had two days of studying time! Luckily I was able to get an 83. So my advice would be to study for the TEAS if you haven't already because they may surprise you! I was not even on the provisional list. If you get a rejection letter, ask where you are at on the list and if you are high up enough, I would suggest studying for the TEAS. I am currently in the program and love it so far.- Any other students who are mothers?
I have an 18 month old and am currently in my 2nd semester of nursing school. It's tough but it can be done! I make sure I study all week when I have a babysitter and spend time with my baby and husband on the weekends. I go to sleep at 10-11pm at night. IMO there's no need to stay up late to study if you're too tired. You won't retain anything! It has been working out for me so far and I won't change it until I feel I have to. I hear 2nd year is much harder so we'll see. I have kept a normal life (not constantly studying 24/7). Everyone is different but I think it's all about time management. As one of my instructor says "study smarter, not harder". Know the best times when you retain things best (that's when you should be studying) and know what type of learner you are (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc). This will make it a lot easier on you! Good luck!!- Anyone here attending cni college rn program?
Yes you're right. But there are so many other hospitals in CA that aren't VA so that shouldn't deter someone from attending a non NLNAC school. The only thing is that now many hospitals are being very picky and only want a Bachelors degree. I'm more afraid of that.- What are the best ways to go about RN programs. SoCal area
Have you been to the nursing department at Rio Hondo? That would be the first step since you already go there. There is definitely an RN program there. I attend there now. It is my first semester and I love it so far. I would suggest speaking with them so they get to know you. They could also tell you how to apply. Good luck.- Tablet for note taking?
I just realized that you have to save the PowerPoint to a PDF file that way you can highlight, underline, and type notes directly on the PDF. You can't do this if it's a PowerPoint file. So don't forget to convert it to a PDF. You would need to do this on a computer.- Anyone here attending cni college rn program?
- Rio Hondo ADN Nursing Program
Ahhh I'm excited and nervous at the same time! It actually wasn't too bad getting all the stuff done. Pretty much just a visit to the health center and CPR class. The bad part was paying for it. Haha. 4 more days!!- Rio Hondo ADN Nursing Program
You should call them and see if you can still request it. It looks like there are still a lot of spots available. I think a lot of students haven't been cleared yet... There's no harm in trying! Explain that you live closer to Arcadia and having a closer clinical site would give you more time to study.- Mount St. Mary's ABSN 2011 applicants
Congrats! I would easily pick CSUN because it's cheaper. There is no guarantee you'll get a job faster just because you graduated from Mount St Mary's. They both give out BSNs. If you outshine someone who went to Mount St. Mary's in a job interview, I highly doubt the hiring managers will say "Well this one went to Mount Saint Mary so let's hire them even though the one from CSUN did better in the interview." Just my opinion :)- Cerritos College for Fall 2013
Thanks fionas32! I just registered for class today and have clinicals at Arcadia Methodist. I'm so excited!! Let me know how your orientation goes! I believe it's tomorrow isn't it? Hopefully you guys have already started getting your vaccinations in order. There's a lot to do if you don't have record of them on hand. Let me know where you guys have clinicals. I believe we have some of the same sites like Kaiser Downey.- Rio Hondo ADN Nursing Program
Hi booboo12, I just got my CRN number to register!! I'm at Arcadia Methodist for clinicals. See you soon!- pasadena city college rn program fall 2013
