Online Resourece for travel nursing info?
LOL, welcome to the world of travel nursing... Agencies are necessarily shady, but they do their best to paint themselves in a good light-- sometimes this can take the form of creating information based websites in order to boost views. A good example is nursezone.com, which appears to be owned by american mobile (one of the bigger travel nurse agencies). I just came across travelnursinginformationhq.com this week. They claim to be independent. Some of the articles are kinda, "meh", but others are detailed. I also like thegypsynurse.com, but I think she regularly sponsors stories about agencies.

Getting burnt out with non urgent patients
Ugh, I was very happy to be transferred out of the ER for this very reason. How many times have we all been screamed at by patients because of the length of wait, only to find that the problem being treated is minimal... sigh

Aya health care/travel agency
Hi Brookiern, I really should check here more often. Well, like any agency, the relationship you have with your recruiter is key. Mine has always been very straightforward with the terms of my potential contracts, I can't really ask for more than that. THe pay varies, but thats the nature of travel nursing. They haven't really jerked me around on things like stipends. I actually just received a phone call from the "nurse happiness manager"; apparently her job is to simply make sure their travel nurses are taken care of!

Best Travel Companies
Travelling is actually pretty easy, but you need to be exceptionally clear (so a recruiter can't twist your words, and B) you get what you want). Make sure you get everything in writing. THe quality of recruiters really varies per company, I've travelled with four different companies, and been with a few different recruiters at each. I've found better luck with larger companies for a few reasons: the first and foremost being that they seem less desperate to place you than smaller agencies. Small agencies need to place every nurse that applies because they simply don't see many applicants: I was sent to jobs all over the place despite asking for a specific relocation. A larger agency has many Rn's to find jobs for, and can often reamin more patient Sure, they will call and give updates, but as I've said before, it never seemed desperate to me. AS iv'e mentioned in other threads, I've had a satisfactory time with Aya Healthcare, but AMN was also a good comapny. The pay is basically the same between the two, and they both found me jobs. I didn't travel for a few years and my travel liaison at amn left and I didn't like my new one, so I moved. Once i found my current recruiter, Cheryl at Aya, I felt a great connection and have yet to find a reason to leave.

Aya health care/travel agency
Just found this thread. I've worked several assignments with Aya. My recruiter is great and not too pushy. Even worked out a way to give me a better housing stipend.

nursechoice
I was working with a recruiter there for a bit.... He was nice, but nothing really materialized and he kept submitting me to jobs in locations I didn't want. I ended up going with another agency

Travel nursing vs. Strike nursing
Hardly the same situation. One might currently not have a job before they work the strike.

Alegrias for me as well :)- SICK of BSN Pedestal
. There is no official language in the United States.- SICK of BSN Pedestal
. There is a true advantage is being able to articulate one's thoughts. I don't be to come across as combative, but your post is rife with spelling and gramatical errors--- the very kind of thing, perhaps, that would be corrected by a worthless 'pre-req.' Is writing eloquently going to help you be a better nurse? Maybe not obviously, but it is the kind of thing that leads to management positions, ect.- You Know You're A *Pediatric* Nurse When
