Hi Folks. I was accepted into the program but have not yet started patho or pharm because none of my other schools required those classes and I didn't want to risk losing money when I was applying to many other places. Has anyone found online schools that start up those classes in october? Thanks!

Hey there - has anyone here gotten accepted for the ABSN class to start in January? If so, where are you able to complete pathophysiology and pharm in three months??

I haven't heard anything either - I spoke with an advisor on the phone a few weeks ago and she said not to expect anything until the end of July

JenBun02 - keep applying! You will get it next time! My Undergrad was a 3.13 and my pre req GPA was a 3.6. It would have been a lot higher if I had not gotten a C+ in Statistics. I think what helped is that I was upfront about my weaknesses academically and said what I would do to overcome them in the program in my essay. I believe I am probably on the lower end of the GPA scale for invited candidates.

Mike, I spoke with an admissions counselor a few weeks ago and I believe you have to report your TEAS score on your application. I could be wrong about that though - I just took mine on Wednesday. I recommend getting the ATI Teas study Manual. I read studied it pretty hard for 13 days straight and got an advanced score. Dyumul07 - the counselor said get your best scores in reading and math - so hopefully you make it through!!! Best of luck to all!

Hi All, I also got the interview for the UCAN program and am quite shocked - and of course, thrilled! To any prospective students this who is intimidated by GPA's thrown around on here, mine was below what people have said the average is for the UCAN program. I think my essay probably stood out as I have experience with underserved communities but other than that - I am perplexed! Best of luck to you all - I look forward to meeting some of you in Denver!

I am the rare person on here that enjoyed AP 2 much more than AP 1. I did take AP 1 over the summer last year and got a B+. I took AP 2 and got a high A last fall. It really depends what type of learner you are between these two classes. AP 1 was much more memorization - which I am terrible at. AP 2 was much more Physiology based - which I truly enjoyed. The respiratory system was the most challenging for me by far but incredibly interesting. Though my teacher was incredibly helpful, I found videos online to be great study tools. Even the silly cartoon ones that went through gas exchange. Your text book should also have online programs and videos - make use of them. My advice would be to study the hormones because they will pop up EVERYWHERE in AP 2. Also, start being comfortable talking to yourself in the mirror rehearsing all the systems :) In addition, see if your college or other colleges in your area host "cadaver nights". Usually at med schools or PA schools. All cadavers are laid out and students will show you the inner workings of the body. This was essential for me to understand what we were studying.

I read a few posts about people being nervous for AP 2... I got a B+ in AP I and a high A in AP 2. The secret - have tons and tons of fun in class. Sounds so nerdy but its true! I have learning disabilities and I was able to use my artistic skills to enhance my studying skills. IE - Making color coded posters matching definitions and terms, tracing a friends body on a huge poster and drawing organ systems, bones, etc and hanging it in my house. (totally creepy but it worked!) The best way to excel in the sciences is to be laid back about it, know you will do well and get friends and classmates that will ENCOURAGE you to do well. I got A's in all of my prereq's after AP I besides Statistics. I have no recommendations on how to do well in that class. I went through lots of tutors and got a C+, which in the end, is ok for my programs!

Hi Netglow! I really appreciate your detailed response. I am definitely willing to learn about the odds and ends in hospital/clinic adminstration and will certainly look around craigslist. I am the type of person who is much more confident in person rather than in writing. Would you advise walking into medical offices (and there alot here! I am in the East Bay of SF) and present myself with my resume? Or is writing a cover letter in this type of setting always the way to go? Also, if I aim to start a ABSN in the winter (pending of course I get accepted! ah!), will offices and hospitals be willing to hire me? Should I just tell them that I have goals to go back to school but not be too specific? Thanks again!

Hi Everyone, I am working towards applying to ABSN programs. In the meantime, I would like to use my administration/communications experience in a hospital setting (would do CNA class but too hard to balance with school and apps). Do you recommend listing the classes already taken for nursing school on this resume? For example, I want to apply for a clerk position. Would my application look more attractive if I put that I have completely all these science courses to advance my career? How would you list them? Would you list the GPA? Thanks!

Hey All - I am applying to the UCAN program, Regis and Samuel Merritt University here in the Bay Area. I am not as confident about getting into the UCAN program as my statistics grade was quite low and references aren't required. However, fingers crossed. I just cleaning up my essays now. Thank you very much for your quick response! SMU is the only school that requires the TEAS so I am not familiar at all.. was this test difficult? How much studying would you suggest to someone who didn't do so hot on the ACT/SAT? (Granted, that was a decade ago) I may have other questions to ask in the coming weeks. I am applying to SMU, Regis in Denver, UC Denver and the MSN program at the University of Arizona... fingers crossed I will get accepted somewhere.
