Ontario Second-Entry Nursing
Thank you so much for your detailed response! Sorry for double messaging you but I wasn't sure if you saw my PM It was a difficult decision for me because both programs are similar. They are both 2 years, and they are both downtown so they have many of the same teaching hospitals. However, for a lot of the same reasons you listed, I decided on uoft. While I'm nervous, I really feel like I made the right choice. Thank you again! You're alumni so perhaps I'll see you around haha

Ontario Second-Entry Nursing
Hi! I saw in another thread that you were accepted to both the nipissing spp and uoft for nursing. What made you choose uoft in the end?
-
Ontario Second-Entry Nursing
I guess I spoke too soon. I was admitted off of the wait list for uoft today! I figured by now I would for sure end up going to nipissing so this is really a curveball.

Ontario Second-Entry Nursing
So uoft sent out an email to those on the wait list to ask for the immunization forms in case space becomes available. I asked how many people have been accepted off of the wait list for far and they said only 2!! It's not looking good

Ontario Second-Entry Nursing
When were you accepted? And where on the waitlist were you?
-
Ontario Second-Entry Nursing
Has anyone been accepted off of the waitlist for uoft?

Ontario Second-Entry Nursing
I got an email from uoft saying that I'm in group 2 on the wait list. They said that group 1 has 8 people in it and group 2 has 20. They said in previous years they have accepted anywhere from 2-20 people off of the wait list. I asked to see if I can find out where I'm ranked in the group but not sure if they'll tell me. Good luck everyone!

Ontario Second-Entry Nursing
Does anyone know of a rough estimate of how many people uoft accepts off the waitlist every year? I think from previous years forums, the ranks are in groups on the wait list.

I've been wait listed for uoft as well

Nipissing University SPP-NURSING 2016 LETS NETWORK
I was accepted ! Uoft is my first choice though and still waiting to hear back from them. I was accepted on June 8th and just got the package in the mail. What were everyone's reasons for choosing this program as opposed to another accelerated program?

Ontario Second-Entry Nursing
Hi! I just got accepted to the nipissing scholar practitioner program but I'm still waiting on uoft. Is anyone else considering the SPP? for reference my cumulative average was 81% and my last 10 courses was 3.5. I did a double major so I have a BSc in biology and a BSc in psychology. I have a lot of volunteering experience; hospital work, research at a mental health hospital, helpline volunteer, group facilitator for patients with mental illness, peer mentoring, and volunteering with indigenous people in Peru. I also published a research paper in social science and medicine. I thought I was competitive but I haven't heard from uoft yet the deposit for nipissing is due June 30th so I have to decide soon!

Congratulations! I thought that uoft required at least a 75% in the last 10 courses though. If you don't mind me asking, do you have a lot of extracurricular or volunteer/work experience?

2nd Entry Nursing Applications for Sept. 2013 - U of T, York, McMaster
Thanks for all the info! Since you're at Queen's now, have you met anyone that is currently in the AST program or has completed it? I haven't seen as much about it as some of the other compressed nursing programs so I'd love to hear some of the student's opinions. I've heard that Queen's is a really great school in general though so I'm really excited about the offer. Congratulations on your offer as well :)!

2nd Entry Nursing Applications for Sept. 2013 - U of T, York, McMaster
I was just accepted to Queen's accelerated program! I was surprised because the program is small, though I'm not sure how many people applied this year. Does anyone have any info on this program? I haven't found much, just applied as an extra alternative if UofT didn't accept me. Still waiting on UofT. If anyone is going to/has gone to Queen's then I'd appreciate any info!

2nd Entry Nursing Applications for Sept. 2013 - U of T, York, McMaster
Oh so I guess the JoinUofT site isn't the best way of checking. I feel a bit less anxious now Thank you for your reply! And congrats on your acceptance btw :)!

2nd Entry Nursing Applications for Sept. 2013 - U of T, York, McMaster
My UofT application is still pending. It says 'application received, to be reviewed'. I'm confused as to why my application hasn't been reviewed even though they've sent out acceptances already. Does anyone have the same message on their application? Could it be that I'm still in second year so they won't accept me until I get my second semester marks back? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

September 2013 Trent Compressed
I applied to Trent too! I'm currently a second year biology student at Trent in Oshawa but I did an internal application. It says that my application is still being evaluated.

UofT 2013
Wow congratulations! Would you mind sharing your gpa and other stats :)?

UofT 2013
It sounds like you've been working really hard for a while to get into this program. Best of luck to you! Thanks for the answer, I don't want to bug people to be my references but if it's short then I don't feel too bad Do you also happen to know which marks they use specifically? I know it's the last 5 courses but are those full year courses? I just got my marks back this semester (the first semester of my second year) so would they use those marks plus the marks from the second semester of my first year or would they use all of the marks from my first year? Hope your holidays were safe as well!

UofT 2013
Wow having an MA will definitely work to your advantage! I definitely agree with the personal statement being too short. I always end up over thinking what to include in those type of things because you can't put in everything you really want to. As I understand it, the references aren't letters that you submit, right? You provide the contact information and UofT will email them with questions, correct? I've never submitted references this way before. I understand that they don't want us to influence what they write but it feels unprofessional to not be able to give the list of questions ahead of time before asking someone for a reference. I don't want them to agree and then find that they need to fill out pages of information Good luck to you as well!

UofT 2013
Hey! I live near Toronto so it's pretty close for me if I get it. I'm still working on the application, trying to figure out which references to use. How are you doing with the application? I'm so nervous, I feel like there are going to be so many applicants this year! I think they give preference to those that have completed their undergraduate already and I'm still in my second year. What year are you in if you don't mind me asking?

UofT 2013
Is anyone else applying to the compressed nursing program at University of Toronto this year for entrance in September 2013? I want to start a thread so we can see when people get accepted and what their grades are like. Good luck to everyone!
