I was a single mom for about two years after I separated from my husband....and it was hard. But it's not necessarily true that a child is better off in a "2" parent home. My children were affected by my separation from their dad but my children still had "2" parents that loved them....just in two separate houses. I think that you saying that a child is better off in a two parent home is insulting. Not everyone is able to make a marriage work but that doesn't make them bad parents and that doesn't mean that the children involved are at a disadvantage.

Just wanted to let you know I wasn't offended at all. and here's my I think you have to have consent from POA for any kind of pictures and for pictures of wounds you're facility would have to a protocol in place for taking pictures and tracking etc....but in the case of abuse and neglect if the authorities were involved..police, adult protective services, elderly protective services, state or something that pictures could and should be taken for evidence. that's worth looking into and contacting some authorities and asking those kinds of questions just to know for future cases ( :angryfire god forbid any more of our elderly and disabled are like this :angryfire). it is sickening to know there are people out there who take care of people and let them get like this.

On a clean stage II you could use panafil which i think works well. My facility has just accepted the healthpoint (manufacturer of xenaderm etc.) protocol which means we will primarily use panafil, accuzyme, and xenaderm..also with that protocol it includes like 40+ free ceu's available to nursing staff to obtain at their own convienance which is great. You recieve a password and then you can access their website from home or wherever and get your ceu's. free ceu's is a great thing to me...lol. I've also read you can use granulex on a clean stage II ulcer...never tried it though.

Hi I am usually just viewing posts without responding but after reading something as appalling as this I felt compelled to post. First off I don't understand with as many skin issues as these people you quote have that the facility hasn't been slammed by the state. I am a treatment nurse for a 200+ bed facility (LTC) and don't have any skin issues like described here. My facility is poorly staffed but we still do our best. I have a total of three major decubes....a stage 3 (present on admission from a hospital), a stage 4 on a hospice patient (present on admission also from a hospital), and another stage 3 (present on admission). I have other decubes in the facility that I acquired with the position. I've only been in my position since the middle of February and am trying diligently to resolve these areas. But I just can't imagine how these skin issues have gotten that out of hand without someone reporting before now. I am by no means taking up for the facility that these people are coming from but from a LTC viewpoint the origin of some of those areas may have been present on admission BUT the facility had an obligation to not let those areas get worse. It is absolutely scary to think that one day I will be old and possibly have to depend on the pieces of ***Sh*t** that are out there in this world. I would not be able to sleep at night knowing that I let someone get in that condition. And not only one person but a whole facility of people have allowed this to continue by not calling the proper authorities. And if they are scared of getting in trouble for calling that's what an anomynous (sp) call is for.

I have used several differant types of "vacs" and one of them i used was called I believe a V-1 (I'll check tomorrow at work). But anyways it used moist 4x4's instead of the sponge and then you can cover with a transparent dressing such as tegaderm. It worked well and of course it was less expensive on dressings. It comes with a thicker version of tegaderm and dressing kits but you can improvise as I often have to do at my work. Hope this helps Jennifer
