This is definitely a possibility, alongside my previous statement.

Convicted of murder as a teen and now a nurse
I feel like we will never know the whole picture, which is why I am not completely against her being a nurse from an outsider standpoint. In order for a person to commit murder, they must have been extremely tormented and troubled on the inside, and we will never know why. Whether it's their upbringing, bullying that occurred, or other triggering experiences we might never know about...people oftentimes cannot choose the environment they are surrounded by, and this can heavily affect them, which unfortunately can lead to acts of aggression such as murder. I strongly believe that we are products of our environment. I was so fortunate to be raised by a loving family, surrounded by loving friends, but how about those who grew up in fear, have a history of mental illness, or who have experienced previous trauma? I don't think people are born bad, and if she was in a better environment, perhaps this murder would not have happened. We would never know, though. With that being said, if I were related to the person who was murdered, I would be furious that this woman got to live her life. At the same time, if she is a licensed, working nurse right now, she may be making a difference in the lives of many on a daily basis. This may not be enough retribution for what she did, but she ended up pursuing a profession that gives back to society, and I don't think I can ever blatantly hate on a fellow nurse, who dedicated her life to healing others.

CSU Fresno Fall 2013 BSN
Do you know if they accept you in the pre-nursing program first and then accept you in the nursing program? It says I have been admitted on my portal, but I'm not sure if that only counts for pre-nursing. Thank you.

Fall 2013 BSN Samuel Merritt University
No word yet Marykdarling @_@ I remember you from the Spring 2013 thread, and I was just wondering if it's not too personal for you to share, if you had any C's while applying. I actually have more than a couple C's in my pre requisites (3, shudder...) and I'm really scared that these C's are going to hurt my chances...My TEAS V score is right at the average on composite, but my reading and math scores are much above. Anyways, thanks for answering if it's not too much trouble, and hopefully I'll be seeing you this upcoming fall!

numair, Whatever you do, just keep in mind that even though you got into the pre-nursing program you will have to apply for the actual nursing program at CSUS after to years of prerequisites. Also, I honestly would not go into Biology at UCM since it seems like you are not sure you want to do yet, but you're leaning towards nursing. I have a couple of friends who did go to UCs thinking they wanted to be doctors, and ended up having to go back to CC so that they could fulfill pre reqs to become a nurse. In other regards, between a CRNA and an NP, I think both have a rather decent job market but NP seems to be the safer route. CRNA's seem to have to spend more in insurance in case of malpractice, and nowadays many hospitals are looking to hire either MDs or NPs for general care. Both seem fun and filflling in their own ways though, but I would focus on getting my BSN first before anything else. In that time you're working on your BSN, you could perhaps volunteer under both types of nurses and decide where you want to go from there.

Fall 2013 BSN Samuel Merritt University
Same boat! This is my second time applying to the program as I applied for Spring 2013 and did not get waitlisted/in (had five pre reqs in progress, two being sciences), but now I am done with all of my prerequisites. Turned in two letter of recs, one from a lab professor and one from my volunteer coordinator. I would really love to be able to get into this program, since so far all of the faculty/staff I have talked to have been extremely helpful. Best of luck to everyone, hope we can all be part of this fall's cohort!

CCSF Lottery System - UNFAIR RESULTS!
I disagree, I do not think grades can accurately gauge whether or not someone will be a good nurse. Perhaps the person is hard-working, but has children, or a full-time job, preventing them from excelling gradeswise.

Anyone else applied to Samuel Merritt University Spring 2013 BSN program?
Maybe they're doing it by last names?
