  1. What part of Indiana is this? I've never heard of them paying lpns that high
  2. Indiana at an assisted living/memory care facility on nights 21$/hr. Office and home health $18
  3. If it's LTC the understaff will never EVER change, if it's does it's short-term. I've been an LPN since 09, I started out LTC and would pick up extra shifts and wore myself thin, it isn't worth it. YES THE $$ IS AMAZING, but in the end isn't worth the fatigue. After several years of long hours, the stress, and being burn out I had to switch. I took a $5 pay cut to happy, stress-free, and not be in constant worry about my license :) hugs hang in there!
  4. When I was in nursing school 10 years ago, we had been taught don't post anything you don't want others to see. Keep in mind potential employers can and will see this, if you are fine with them seeing you drinking so be it. Everyone is different in how they want to represent themselves.
  5. No kidding, as a nurse you shouldn't be snorting a line of anything!! Goodness sakes
  6. What agency where you able to sign on with to do travel nursing as an LPN, i'm from Indiana and was inquiring what would be a good agency.
  7. Are you still an LPN and was offered that sign on bonus?? and if you are where at?? and what company thank you and congrats!
  8. State of Indiana in a long term care we can call time of death, I'm not sure for hospice. For myself I've always had an RN come in to verify but we document it with our LPN signature on the death certificate. If it is a hospice resident in a LTC we call them and they come in and take care over. How rude of the one to respond some are hateful on all nurses. Hope this helps.
  9. I made the exact same mistake as well!! BIG WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!! still paying such a bummer!
  10. Unfortunately, I'm from Indiana and in LTC or assisted living I've mentioned this numerous times they won't make them wear ID bands because this is their homes an they shouldn't have to is what I have been told. That is why they have room numbers, or names outside of the doors.
  11. Well I have worked in long term care and assisted living and 25 is a lot for assisted living. You develop your own routine that works for you. We all are entitled to our opinions. Here is mine about your situation I think for being rushed you did what was best at the time, I have been in the exact same situation more than once where administration didn't seem to care if pictures where updated or not an I was required to rely on the CNAs to assist me an 9/10 times they are extremely busy to help an if they do not like you or your just as needed staff they will not help you at all which is horrible for those residence. If this was me I would wash my hands with it an walk away I highly doubt your license is in jeopardy ( word of warning for the future) cyob with documenting if you give the wrong med to wrong patient document, who you notified, vital signs, family called, reaction of the patient every so often, called DoN, administration; Md all of that and what exactly MD states bc this will be used in court :) don't fret! As far as pre setting meds I would say over half of LTC nurses do it. Don't let others fool you they will pretend like they are better than you!
  12. If only just having the many snacks that he does eat, carbs, that he already does try at the age of 27 would work for him before these activities would work. Then obviously I wouldn't be asking for others input on this topic. He needs a dog in case he where to PASS OUT or come close to that to ALERT him hey get your butt up! from out of the bed, or stop the lawn mower go check sugar now! Unfortunately there are so many people out in the community that are very uneducated and if he had a trained animal he could enjoy the things he once did like you and I do and someone wouldn't be stabbing him and potentially put him into a diabetic coma/seizure d/t giving him his Humalog. He's the one that is educated, it's the community that isn't. so if he was to hit the floor d/t hypoglycemia happening so fast someone else might not know what to do. I just wanted information on a program for service animals. Like I mentioned I seen not to long ago on Facebook where these animals can sense like the lady above had commented certain changes in the body. let me see if I can find the video on facebook
  13. Thank you! you KatieMI. is AFAIK, what I can look up ?
