  1. There are no elective clinicals at Queens, and when I was in the program there was not an OR rotation. I'm not sure if any nursing programs have the option for an elective clinical rotation.
  2. My rationale for attending Queens was the same as yours -- it's the only accelerated program in or near Charlotte. The program was challenging, but not nearly as difficult or time consumptive as I expected it to be. There were several people in my cohort who did not successfully complete the program, but those were mostly students with a lot of other issues (kids, family problems, etc.). Bottom line: the program is doable but you will have significant student loans, you just have to figure out if being in the job market a year earlier vs a traditional program is worth the additional cost. I had no problem passing NCLEX (I took it within 2 weeks of graduating) and neither did most people that I kept up with. The biggest thing with NCLEX is to do tons of practice questions (I did hundreds of questions a week during my last semester).
  3. I graduated from the ABSN program at Queens. The program had a fair share of problems (I don't know if any better or worse than other nursing programs); but it accomplished what I needed, which was graduating with my BSN and passing NCLEX. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'd be happy to answer them :)
  4. I received my acceptance email on Wednesday. I hope you also received good news!
  5. Well that's reassuring to hear that you haven't been notified either -- I was afraid that I had maybe missed an e-mail and was thinking about calling them today. The interview wasn't quite what I was expecting -- it was more about me and less about how I've handled certain situations. We also talked about the way classes and clinicals are organized. Overall I think it went well, but it's hard to know for sure about these things. How about you?
  6. Have you heard anything yet? In my interview they said they were hoping to make notifications in a week but I haven't heard anything yet...
  7. I was also invited for an interview! I'm so excited!
  8. Anyone applying to WCU FNP program? I submitted my application on 1/30 and would love to hear from anyone else anxiously awaiting!
  9. I got an email a while ago that orientation is May 6. Nothing about financial aid yet-- when I called the office she said they work on them in April, so hopefully something really soon.
  10. I start this May in the ABSN program. Anyone else?
  11. Congrats, you'll love it. I've always asked my teachers if they had a problem with my recording lectures for my own personal use-- I only had 1 that had a hiccup about it but when I explained that it would never be on YouTube and how much my grades went up she changed her tune!
  12. You can print live scribe paper if you have a laser printer-- so in theory you could print your paper, and then print your PowerPoint onto the paper.
  13. I bought my live scribe pen when I was working on my biology undergrad-- my grades went from struggling C's to high B's and A's. I honestly wish I had bought mine earlier (I got it on clearance at Target for $50!!)I use it to record lectures and write in the notebooks in class. Then when I get home I listen to my lecture/look at the notebook on my computer & rewrite my notes in a different notebook with a regular pen-- rewriting them allows the opportunity to cement the material more and organize your notes if your instructor didn't present them in an organized fashion. When you listen to your lectures again you'll be amazed how much material you missed the first time. Contact me if you have more questions about live scribe.
