Calling all new ER grads starting Feb 2013
Hello. I'm in my 3rd week of my 4 month orientation. I'm in the classroom for 2 days and I rotate to various department for the other 3 days to shadow the nurses. I will be with my ED preceptor starting in about a month and that's where I suspect the stress will start, lol

lasalle university RN-MSN Bridge program
I just completed the achieve program at LaSalle 2012. LaSalle is a great school. I was worried like you too. I already had a bachelors in business with a GPA of 2.7 from 1999. I was concerned that they wouldnt accept me.I dont think they were concerned with my GPA because I had to take a boatload of other pre-reqs since my background was in business not science. I think what helped me was that I had A's in all my science pre-reqs and the other 10 classes as well. I know you are applying for the MSN, so hopefully they will see that you matured as a student and received higher grades as you progressed.

New grad offered school nurse contract position - Should I take it or not?
I was offered a position like that too from an agency. I dont think they care who they hire, while I was waiting to be interviewed, the receptionist had me filling out paperwork as if i was hired already(w4 info, emergency contact, etc), that was red flag #1, so i go to the interview, only it wasnt an interview, he was asking me what job i would like to wo work(rf#2), he offered me school nurse position, i said do you offer training bc im a fish out of water, he said they dont offer training, and ran down the typical things kids come to the nurse for, tummy ache, cramps, headache and even said a couple of kids need tube feeding . I told him i dont feel comfortable and this is putting my license on the line. To make matters even worst, the agency set it up so I'm considered a private contractor, meaning that if something bad happen they could sue me not them. I said thanks but no thanks. That was in Oct 2012(i grad may 2012). So i went back to the drawing board and landed a nurse residency job in the ER, and i start next month. So if I was you, i wouldnt take this job and be very careful of agencies that just throw you to the wolves. You worked very hard for your license and you dont want to lose it and you said its 2 hours away, this job isnt worth it. You have to ask your self what happens if something really serious happens and u will be like a deer caught in the head lights. Trust me i thought long and hard about that job, and something better came down the line.
