Wow, good for you! I keep telling myself that for when I start my 10 month lpn program "Life is gonna be tough physically, emotionally, mentally, financially, etc, but it will be done eventually and it will be well worth it!" Its always nice to hear these stories instead of horror stories! Once again, congratulations and good luck in the future!

ok well i feel dumb asking this but hopefully someone can help. how exactly do you find a job after graduation? The only experience I have is at restaurant and obviously you just go in and apply. however, for a job at a doctors office do you just go in and bring in your resume? because i dont know of any websites where it tells you if they are hiring or not

How many days will you be working? I know the program I am in says they recommend if you are full time working no more than 12 hours a week. The hours you put down at my school is considered part time and I know for part time they say no more than 16 hours a week. That is what they recommend, but I know of people who have worked and put themselves through nursing school. It can be done, its more about time management and dedication and as long as you have that you should be fine. Luckily my fiance will be working full time while I go to school so I wont have to work, but unfortunately thats not the case for everyone.

Well I looked online and it said 3 doses were mandatory. But I FINALLY got in touch with someone today and she said I will be fine! Whew! She was kinda rude about it, but I dont care lol. She said as long as I continue to get the shots I will be okay and can still go into the program! I was soooo relieved!

Hmm, gonna look into it! Havent heard anything over here about a waiver..

This does make me feel better, actually :) I am thinking just be super nice and explain to them my side, Im sure everything will be fine though. The lady seemed really nice the few times I met her so hopefully she can let me slide a little

Yeah I mean I am sure everything will be fine, but I just cant help but freak out! Thats just how I am, I am always expecting the worst, it drives me nuts! lol, but I will just have to wait it out til Monday I guess, ughh

Hey everyone, I read a topic on here a few days ago about someone who didn't get the hep b vaccine and might not be able to go to school this year because of it. I can't find ot right now though because I'm on my phone so sorry to make a new thread about it! But basically I'm in the same boat. I can't talk to anyone at the school about it til Monday but I can't stop thinking about it! What if I can't go? Ill be heartbroken. I literally made all my plans around this school! How many of your schools will allow you to o to school while you are in progress of getting shots? Its only for clinicals anyway right?

Thanks for the tips. I like the idea of being able to teach someone something that proves that you know it. And I'm gonna have to try that website! I think I am a visual learner too because flashcards do nothing for me!

Ive never considered that "not being smart enough" was a valid idea. I see myself as an RN in a hospital in the labor and delivery unit. And guess what? In a few years thats where I am going to be. I have gotten out of the habit of saying to my fiance "If I pass", "If I become an RN", NO its "WHEN I BECOME AN RN"! If you want it bad enough, you will work your butt off to get it!

I used to do the flashcards but that didnt work too well with me either. I dont start school until September but I wanna get some good strategies going in. That makes me feel better that most of your learning happens on your own because I panic when I dint understand it right away. I will definitely keep in mind that reading the text with your notes is helpful. Ill have to keep quizlet in mind too! anyone have tips on staying organized as well? For example, do you use certain color highlighters for certain things? Separate folders for different things, etc...Im trying to go into this as prepared as possible!

Just looking around for some new studying tips and note taking tips. I have never been to good at either of them and although I usually do well in classes anyway, I know nursing school you cant just get by without studying and taking good notes. Any tips? I usually have a hard time picking out whats really important and what i dont really need to jot down

Oh, also, my aunt worked in L&D for a short period of time. She worked in a crappy area where many of the mothers were drug addicts and didnt want to be near their baby, the baby was born drug addicted, etc...Its so heartbreaking and Im sure you have to have tough skin to deal with this
