  1. I took the NCLEX in Washington and have my license there. Neither MN or WA are compact states sadly but the process to transfer is pretty straight forward you pay the fee and fill out the application and then once the new state receives all the information from the old state they grant your license no need to retake the boards. They really need to go to a nation wide license and hopefully that will happen some day. On the job front I have not heard anything from Mayo but I haven't given up and continue to apply so we will see what happens
  2. First I want to make it perfectly clear that I am very happy for everyone that got an interview and wish you the very best of luck in being offered a job. Second: Waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't get an interview and I'm really bummed about it. Sighs back to the drawing board
  3. I was kind of wondering the same thing. I haven't received an email saying I wasn't accepted yet and my application is still active on the website. So there may still be hope. Has anyone gotten a call saying they got an interview?
  4. Well I did not get a phone call and it's 1842 Denver time . Congrats to everyone who did get an interview though and good luck!!!!
  5. Thank you! praying I get a phone call then
  6. GGBRN Have you heard anything yet from CHC??
  7. I got the email but my app status online still says screen. Hard to do I know but try and relax until the 21st deep breaths and don't obsessively check your app status 20 times a day. (((HUGS))) You can do this!!!! Which areas did you choice? Maybe we'll be working together in March
  8. Thanks for the Info I appreciate it!
  9. I got an email saying my application had been routed to a hiring manager...I think they do a mass email of all people selected for an interview on the 21st
  10. I agree with dudette10 if they are waking up requesting pain meds and their v/s are stable I would go ahead and give them what the Doctor had ordered them for pain
  11. I think the hiring freeze is over. They have started posting openings for RN's again. Hopefully I'll get an interview soon
  12. Hey cool! I placed in the top 10 and I didn't even know there was a contest going on. Just naturally chatty I guess :)
  13. Everything I have seen says that if you are getting 65-75% of the practice questions right you have a 90-95% chance to pass the NCLEX the first time. With the actual test they don't really calculate a percentage there is just a passing line and if you can answer the questions above the passing line correctly then you are good. My understanding is that if you get a lot of "check all that apply" questions you are doing well on the test because those are the hardest to answer. I am using the Kaplan and Saunders books to study and they are both really awesome. I chose not to pay the $500 for the Kaplan course because A) I don't have $500 to spare and B) I tend to test really well in general and don't suffer from huge test anxiety. Not that I won'r be nervous heading in but generally once i get past the first few questions I can settle down and focus and push the anxiety away. It's AFTER the test is over that I worry and panic about how I did LOL
  14. hmmm I have application being reviewed but I haven't seen any job postings in a week and have heard nothing from the applications I already have in. Well I will just have to keep plugging. Thanks for the info!!
  15. I did it! I applied to the Nurse residency Program at Children's Hospital Colorado! Now I get to wait. I won't hear if I got an interview until Dec 21st, so if the world doesn't end I will come back and let you know what happened. I asked for the Float Pool and Surgical/Rehab/Neuro if anyone happens to work on in those areas I would love to talk
  16. Don't let it get you down shaina...use it to focus where you study and you will do AWESOME
  17. As the previous posters stated she is an adult and in pain she requested the PRN's and being sleepy is a side effect. you can talk to both the patient and her husband about possible non-drug interventions for pain such as heat, or distraction but if she is having a migraine/cluster/whatever headache that bad those may not help at all. I get WRETCHED headaches with auras, nausea, light, sound and touch sensitivity the only blessing in these headaches is that a dose of Toradol paired with Phenergan will usually take care of it. Also if the dilauded isn't working effectively you might talk to the doc about trying a different kind of med...Toradol works fabulously for me but opiates are not my friend for most kinds of pain
  18. Thank you so much for answering my questions!! I think I will be applying for the residency program and we will see what happens
  19. Yes I am getting my BSN...I will have to try the linkedin and see how that goes thank you for the idea. Although I would like to work in an ICU I really like just about every type of nursing I have tried in clinicals so I have been applying for pretty much everything.
  20. Good Luck!!! I am sure you will do AWESOME!!!
  21. Wow congrats on having a Job lined up already. Any tips on how to manage that?
  22. Thanks everyone.....I am super happy and at the same time terrified starting to look for jobs now and that a whole different experience
  23. Any idea what those keywords are? I have my resume and cover letter being reviewed right now, It was actually an assignment for our Professional Development class. I am only going to be applying for the Rochester campus. Arizona has one of THE worst special education programs in the country and I have two children who are Autistic. Jacksonville is well...Florida and I grew up in the south and have no real desire to return I am pretty much applying for anything that is open to new grads and though I have received 3 "rejection" notices one was personalized and said they like my background and experience but were going in a "different direction". I figure that means they need someone sooner than I would be available. If I keep applying maybe they'll give me a job to shut me up LOL. My biggest concern is that living in WA I have almost no way to network to improve my chances
  24. I don't know how much it cost...our teacher arranged for the school to cover it.
  25. Today I completed my last test of nursing school!!!!! I start my practicum on Sat and graduate Dec 9th :)
